The newest NexStar dual bay HDD dock offers an incredibly handy and quick way to access your data. It can handle 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives so you will have no serious compatibility problems to deal with and with the USB 3.0 interface you aren't going to have to wait very long watching the blue bar slowly fill as your transfer slowly goes. Tweaknews liked the look as well as the performance but do warn you to turn off the dock when it is not in use as your drives will get quite warm.
"Vantec has been on a roll lately with their NexStar line of storage products, and their USB 3.0 dual bay HDD dock is no exception. What stands out with this unit is the ability to access two hard drives simultaneously – something that is handy for all types of buyers ranging from the casual home PC user to network admins who need a quick way to access data on a hard drive."

While most makers use the Open NAND Flash Interface, Samsung and Toshiba have chosen a different route called toggle flash which utilizes a data strobe instead of the usual clock when transferring data. Both technologies are JEDEC approved, so it will be interesting to see which survives. That is not the only trick this drive has, it is also the first to sport two DIMMs for cache, 128MB DRAM c

Seagate and WD have started releasing HDDs with 2.5TB and 3TB capacities, which sounds great on the face of it but causes problems for many users as motherboards and OSes can have issues when drives grow that large. Those still using XP are essentially out of luck, even with the intervention of a 3rd party PCIe RAID card, Win7 users will be up and running easily, though there is an update from Microsoft that is strongly recommended to prevent data corruption. The real meat of the article covers the steps to
