An interesting link came into my inbox this morning with the tag line "LinkBoost" and it pointed to the NVIDIA.com website. Here on the Tech Specs page for the nForce 600 series chipsets, if you scroll ALL the way to the bottom, you'll see this note:
**Note: NVIDIA LinkBoost™ technology has been removed as a feature from NVIDIA nForce® 680i SLI
Well, that's a surprise. If you remember
A Cheaper 680i Solution
NVIDIA has released a new chipset based in the 600 series for the Intel platform that has a lower price but a fewer features as well. Can EVGA and NVIDIA work their magic once again on the new 680i LT SLI chipset motherboard?
AMD Gets a New Chipset
AMD is releasing their first new chipset in almost 4 years courtesy of their new friends from ATI. Come see what the AMD 690 chipset with integrated GPU might do for you.

According to DailyTech AMD is delaying their integrated chipset (fromerly the RS690 chipset from ATI) due to some HDCP issues.
AMD was expected to release its long awaited ATI RS690 integrated graphics chipset shortly after the AM2 launch in mid-2006. Since the AMD acquisition of ATI, the chipset has since been renamed to AMD 690.

It looks like Intel is already planning their push into DDR3 memory technologies with a set of chipsets for late 2007.
X38 is the enthusiast top notch chipset scheduled for a Q3 2007 introduction. This is intended to replace the 975X chipset. It served us well but it lived too long. It cannot support DDR 2 memory at 1066, and we see that as a problem for enthusiasts. It supports PCIe 2.0, 2x16 PCIe graphic slots, DDR 3 memory at 1333 and a Quad core support.
Another new Intel Chipset
EVGA is the first partner to get us a motherboard based on NVIDIA's new nForce 680i chipset for the Intel platform. If you are interested in SLI and maybe even some overclocking, this board definitely needs to be on your list!
