Welcome to our first of many upcoming Athlon 64 motherboard reviews. The Asus K8V Deluxe, based on the K8T800 chipset from VIA, was chosen to be first out of the ring simply because so many of our readers have asked for it. What the readers ask, I must obey! No emails for free stuff, please…

Asus has had quite a string of successful motherboards in the past year or so, starting with the A7N8X Deluxe based on the NVIDIA nForce2 chipset. They followed that up with an upgraded model of the board using the Ultra 400 chipset and the P4C800 based on Intel’s 875 chipset. To say that Asus has a hold on the motherboard market would not be too strong a statement, in my opinion.

But with great power, comes great responsibility – or something like that. Basically, if they screw up, it’s going to hurt them even more as the fall is that much farther. Our review will attempt to find any faults that Asus may have over looked in their first jump into the enthusiast market of the Athlon 64 processor.
