Corsair XMS2 5400UL and XMS2 8000UL 1GB DDR2 Review

Subject: Memory
Manufacturer: Corsair Components

Bandwidth Testing - 8000UL

Like the 5400UL on the previous page we will now perform simple bandwidth measurement tests on the XMS2 8000UL counterpart and compare it to the older Kingston RAM.

* Kingston @ 533 MHz 4-4-4-12

In SiSoft Sandra, the 8000UL shows some nice improvements in bandwidth as you decrease the timings. Surprisingly changing the memory frequency from 667 MHz to 800 MHz had no effect.

* Kingston @ 533 MHz 4-4-4-12

* Kingston @ 533 MHz 4-4-4-12

In Everest, we once again see no improvement in changing the frequency from 667 MHz to 800 MHz. In fact at 667 MHz, 3-3-2-8 has much better read performance.

I will be very curious to see how this anomaly manifests itself in gaming.

* Kingston @ 533 MHz 4-4-4-12

Latency reflects the results above. As we can see again, the differences between 4-4-4-12 and 3-3-2-8 is not significant.
