SPECviewperf 10

The SPECopcSM project
group's SPECviewperf 10 is totally new
performance evaluation software. In addition to features found in
previous versions, it now provides the ability to compare performance of
systems running in higher-quality graphics modes that use full-scene
anti-aliasing, and measures how effectively graphics subsystems scale
when running multithreaded graphics content. Since the SPECviewperf
source and binaries have been upgraded to support changes, no
comparisons should be made between past results and current results for
viewsets running under SPECviewperf 10.

We can definitely tell that some of the tests in our SPECviewperf 10 runs are not as GPU limited as they should be.  Take the 3dsmax-04 result for example - there is almost no difference between the V8800 and the V5800 and only a 14% gap between the V5800 and the V3800.  Other tests in the suite like our Maya benchmark see dramatic scaling and actually show the V5800 ahead of the Quadro FX 3800 - a gap of 11%.  In those tests that seem to be CPU limited on the AMD cards the NVIDIA Quadro solution has a slight lead, which is worth noting.

I like reading about the AMD FirePro V5800 and V3800 reviews. I think those who want to get these graphic cards may need to read the reviews first before deciding whether to buy them. There are so many reviews of web sites and IT products. I think there are also reviews on Groupon and its clones.
