Introduction

The Throttle Series Gaming Chair is the king of Clutch Chairz gaming line, hosting the largest chairs in the cornucopia of offerings. The Throttle Series chairs are built to accommodate what I like to refer to as "normal-sized" gamers, being those of us more weathered enthusiasts in our 30-to-40 somethings with kids at various states of schooling. The series is built with larger profile seats and seat backs to better accommodate "normal-sized" people with its steel skeleton covered in soft leather and memory foam for premium comfort. That premium comfort comes with a premium price with the Throttle Series Gaming Chair MSRP coming in at $469.99.

As shown in the pics, the Throttle Series chair comes with two support pillows, an upper pillow with straps for neck support and a lower large pillow for lumbar support. Both support pillows are made from the same memory foam material as the chair. The chair itself has an adjustable seat back that goes between 90 and 180 degrees, as well as allowing for rocking without fear of tipping. Its armrests are adjustable in 4 dimensions and the seat can be height adjusted as well. From the detailed dimensions shown (all in mm), you get a better picture of just how large a Throttle Series chair is and the superb upper limits it can support.

The chair's frame is constructed with a tubular steel design, giving it enhanced strength and durability. The memory foam cushioning gives the chair the ability to contour itself to meet its users unique needs. Further, the frame itself comes with the lifetime warranty. The gas lift that controls the seat's vertical height is a class 4 device with support of up to 150kg (approximately 330lbs).

From the bottom up, this gaming chair is built to please. Its forged aluminum base is rated to support up to 2000lbs and is 70cm in diameter to ensure that you don't get thrown from your seat. It's non-marking castor wheels ensure that you don't make your wife mad with marks on her beloved hardwood floor. And its 4D armrests, adjustable in the vertical horizontal, side to side, and rotating, ensure that you remain comfortable at all times.

The chair supports a backwards tilt of up to 12 degrees, in addition to the seat back's ability to statically adjust between 90 and 180 degrees. This allows you the comfort of leaning back when you desire. You also have the ability to lockout the chair's tilt capability as well as adjust your seat back to a comfortable height.

Glad you’ve had a good
Glad you’ve had a good experience so far, can’t say the same for me. I bought one of these when they were on massdrop a few months ago and after only about a month of use it started to tilt backwards without using the seat tilt adjust level, and now it’s stuck all the way tilted back. This shouldn’t be that big an issue, it does have a good warranty, but they want me to ship the whole chair back to get a replacement. Even breaking it down into individual parts UPS wants to charge me close to $70 to package it to send back, and other people on the massdrop thread from the drop have said that if it’s returned damaged Clutch hasn’t been so great about honoring the warranty so I’m not so confident in packing it myself. I liked the chair but it was already expensive enough without adding another $70+ to get it fixed.

You probably tested out their initial supply. They’ve improved much since. I tested both of them out at the the showroom in BC. I would give them a try again, they are killing it now.

at $469, it’s not a good deal. If you are going to spend that much
on a chair, then better to go with Maxnomic chairs that have adjustable lumbar support built into the backrest as opposed to pillows, those chairs start out around $400.

A fat people chair?
A fat people chair?
not necessarily. I actually
not necessarily. I actually found these at Fry's before purchasing online. Fry's had quite a few manufacturer's chairs and most of them felt confining to me when sitting in them. This one didn't and is actually quite comfortable.
But the rule for these is to physically try one before buying…
I’d love to see a follow up
I’d love to see a follow up on this review in the future regarding how the castors hold up. I find that on many chair reviews, that’s what gives out the most.
Not a fat people chair,
Not a fat people chair, though they do have those. I have the Crank edition, which is smaller and cheaper. It’s been the only chair I can sit in comfortably for work and play hours on end. Saved my back. I love that PCPer got a review up on this. Really a fantastic chair.
