Quake III

In the Normal settings under Q3Bench, we saw a jump of 5% in the 640x480 resolution, a 6% jump on the 1024x768 resolution and a 3% jump on the 1600x1200. Those numbers are very nice and are finally pushing the KT400 chipset over the 300 fps mark. On MAX detail, we see a 6% jump on 6x4, a 7% jump on 10x7 and a 4% jump on 16x12. Needless to say this speed increase on this benchmark is worth more than most CPU upgrades are going to do for you.

3D Mark 2001: SE

On both resolutions we see a few hundred points gain on the 3D Mark 2001: SE benchmark. While the percentages are very impressive on there own, 1.5% and 1.8% respectively, they put KT400 results on the same level as the nForce2 benchmarks on gaming performance.

Again, thanks goes to for the great UT2K3 benchmark utility!

Our final benchmark for this test doesn’t have nearly as dramatic a difference as the other two did. We are only looking at a frame or so performance difference even at the lowest of the resolutions in either graphics quality. The KT400 chipset was and is still in strong competition against the nForce2 chipset on this benchmark.
