OCZ Fatal1ty Champion Series 700W PSU Review

Author: Lee Garbutt
Manufacturer: OCZ Technology

Specifications and Packaging

The OCZ Fatal1ty Champion series 700W power supply is rated for a combined, continuous output power of up to 700 watts at 50°C operating temperature (internal case air temperature).  That’s important, as some less reputable manufactures limit their power supply’s advertised capacity by specifying a lower operating temperature (25°C) in the fine print.  One of the PSU's unique features is the large Fatal1ty logo on the side that lights up red when the PSU is turned on.

Note: The glowing Fatal1ty logo is actually bright red - it appears yellow in the picture above due to the digital camera sensor.

The PSU includes universal AC line input (automatically adjusts to the AC line voltage) and active PFC, which makes the unit more environmentally friendly to the local power grid.  The OCZ Fatal1ty 700W incorporates a single high-power +12V rail that can deliver up to 56A (672W).

The Fatal1ty 700W power supply arrived securely packed inside a red and black retail box.  In addition to the power supply the package includes a power cord, mounting screws, wire ties, and a very brief Instruction Manual.
