Antec High Current Pro 1200W Power Supply Review

Under the Hood

Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the Antec HCP-1200 power supply.  The overall layout, build quality and component selection appears to be excellent.  Antec is using Delta Electronics, the same partner they used to build their Signature Series PSUs.  Delta has been around for many years supplying numerous OEMs.

Just taking the cover off doesn’t get you very far inside this PSU.  The HCP-1200 power supply uses two PCBs with airflow in between; the reason for the rear mounted 80mm fan.

The HCP-1200 PSU incorporates four high-quality Rubycon caps on the primary, which are rated for 150uF/390uF, 450V and 105°C (two on each PCB).  Nippon Chemi-Con caps are used on the secondary; both excellent choices.

The High Current Pro Series 1200W power supply uses DC to DC converters to produce +3.3V and +5V from the main +12V section.  The unique assembly in the center of the following picture is what Antec refers to as a "one-step transformer with directly attached MOSFETS"; very nice.
