As has become a staple, the VIA Technology Forum is going on during the week of Computex at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Taipei.  Wednesday it started off with a keynote from the President of the VIA Technologies, Wenchi Chen, which focused on the continued miniaturization PC circuitry.  (Large quote below.)

Get ready to be jealous.  Start off with [H]ard|OCP and their chat with ATI about physics processing.  ATI's plan is to incorporate an extra x1600 or x1900 to be used as a physics processor, that they believe will be faster than Ageia's.

With 2 major shows going on right now, IDF and CeBIT, there is a lot of info about the upcoming products for this year.  With pictures and more, start with Guru of 3D's look through CeBit, then try to keep your jealousy under control as you follow all of the other tours.

Designtechnica took a look around CEIDA2005, and tells you you all about the highlights, like LG's 55-inch 1080p high-definition LCD tunerless monitor.


"C.E.D.I.A. opened a few weeks in Indianapolis, IN, and fostered several themes. The most important themes were: iPod connectivity, HDMI connectivity, and displays (TVs) with resolutions of 1080p. Computex Coverage Online

I just finished posting my Computex 2005 coverage from the driver's seat of a car headed towards Columbus, Ohio.  Man, you have to love wireless data services.  ;)  In any event, you should give the article a read over and you might some interesting things being shown.  My personal favorite is the Gigabyte iRAM which uses standard DDR memory to make a solid state storage device that is much faster than other storage options.  There are some drawback of course, but we'll learn more about it very soon.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Chris Morris a couple of times and I can tell that even though he works for the mainstream media, he knows his stuff.  In this weeks edition of "Game Over" he discusses the implications of this year's E3 show.


The new consoles will get the lion's share of the spotlight, for obvious reasons. But software publishers have a few surprises up their sleeves that may shift the focus back to games by the time the show wraps up.

Is it a bird?  A plane?  No, its AMD sticking its proverbial tongue out at Intel during IDF.  Yes, this is indeed a picture of sky writing over San Francisco with the words "Turion 64 Mobility," though we couldn't get the entire phrase in our lense to capture.  Who says AMD doesn't have a sense of humor?

Intel Developer Forum Spring 2005 - Early Notes

I just got back from registering for this springs Intel Developer Forum and as usual they handed out a bag with some information in it for the press.  After the short walk back to the hotel, I found two items of interest to me in the pack, which usually doesn't happen.
