Hardocp has a Prescott review that you may want to check out, looks like it might be a runner after all. Surprisingly enough, in spite of the heat worries, the 2.4A turns out to be a good overclocker. However, if you go shopping, better be sure of what you are buying.

My buddy Kyle at HardOCP posted a quick overclocking test of the 2.4 GHz Prescott processor. Using just stock cooling and voltages, he was able to get this baby to 3.2 GHz but with some liquid cooling, he was able to get it to 3.7 GHz, which is quite impressive. Even the temperature numbers seemed better than expected.
Quite frankly, we were expecting to have to get out the fire extinguisher, but that was not even close to the case.

I caught this link over at HardOCP.com, where at Newegg.com they have a Athlon 64 2800+ processor for sale for $173. It is a 1.8 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache processor, closely related to the 3000+ part we saw soft launched a month or so ago.

Looking for the best desktop processor money can buy? Well look no further as you have two choices. That's right, the top of the line for both processors are so close there is no straight up winner in processing power, at least not yet. But this time Intel has the lead in pricing, coming in about $200 cheaper as of this writing. Although, I dont expect that large difference to last long, nor the current processing power of these bohemoths to remain stagnant. Its that time, for both to ramp up as both are about on equal footing and there is no cut and dry winner.

Here's a review from Motherboards.org putting AMD's finest up against Intel's finest. Being on top, which ever you choose to go with, there is little difference in performance. The numbers are so close in so many instances most would call it in effect, a draw. That is until you start to look at what it's going to cost you to have the best of the best.

OCFAQ has an A64 3000+ review that does the benchmark comparisons with the XP3200, and an FX. Take a look if your looking to upgrade, but wanting to buy wisely.

This article posted over at Anand's states that Intel is following AMD's lead once again this time in the nomenclature of its future processors.
News broke earlier today that Intel will most likely change its current "Megahertz" strategy in favor of a more subdued "Model Name" approach. This does not necessarily mean Intel will change its processors to a PR rating, like "3000+".
