Phoronix installed an Optane 900P SSD into their AMD EPYC system to test the performance the new drive provides running under Ubuntu. Their results were very similar to Al's, showing that this fairly expensive 280GB SSD can justify its premium price by leaving the competition in the dust. The testing suite they used is quite different from the one here at PCPer but the proof that Optane gets along well with Linux is indisputable.

Uhm, 900p is a high end consumer product. Enterprise part is called DC P4800x.
Really, Intel has to make its
Really, Intel has to make its Optane products work well with Linux as that represents most of the Server/HPC market with its usage of Linux OS distros. Intel even has their own Linux Distro Project Clear Linux and all that prfessional market driver development for Linux pays off for the Consumer Linux market also.
I’ll expect that Micron will not meet their 2017 QuantX/Optane deadline for produts in 2017 and maybe the SEC will get on Micron’s case about that unless Micron can get something/anything out before the big ball drops.
Hell Intel and Micron share the same 3D Xpoint joint facility in Utah(that has just recently been expanded). So what is up with Micron are they selling all their production to Intel with Micron maybe having problems getting some working QuantX/XPoint products certified.
