We paid a visit to the Corsair booth on the CES show floor for a peek at their new P3 series SSD line:

These will be available in 64, 128, and 256GB versions.

Corsair had a test system with a pair of the 128GB units running in a RAID-0 under a Sandy Bridge controller. Here's a quick ATTO bench showing the results:

Not only does this verify the stated specs of the 128GB drive (doubled due to the RAID configuration), it also shows that Sandy Bridge can handle at least 900 MB/sec throughput. The previous generation ICH10R tops out at about 650-700 MB/sec.

I took a peek inside one of the units and noted the new layout of the Marvell board. They have shifted to a 1.8" PCB mounted inside a 2.5" standard enclosure. This will make for easier production of 1.8" units - similar to what was done with the Samsung 470 Series.

We'll be checking this new unit out first hand in a few weeks. Corsair is currently finalizing their shipping firmware.
