Asus had a large presence at CES this year, though they didn’t have the booth size to handle it.  With all the press the Asus Eee PC has been getting, you’d have thought they’d splurge on fancy stands and booth babes!

The products did make quite the impression though; two models in particular stood out to me.

The Asus U2E is an ultraportable notebook, weighing less than 2.9 lbs according to Asus’ documentation.  It has an 11″ screen with a 1366×768 LED backlit screen.  It has an optical drive on it as well as optional solid-state storage hard drives of 32GB or 64GB.

Compared to the popular Eee PC, the U2E is obviously bigger; that means less portability but more keyboard space and also a standard 80GB or 100GB hard drive for much more storage.  The U2 is a notebook that I can see myself using for both work and general travel.

On the exact opposite end of the spectrum is Asus new G70 gaming notebook that features dual NVIDIA 8700M GT graphics chips in SLI mode.  Other interesting features include an optional Blu-ray or HD-DVD drive, dual hard discs for some RAID action up to 1 TB (terabyte!), an Intel X9000 series CPU all paired with a 1920×1200 17″ LCD.
