Leaving aside the questionable naming to instead focus on the improved cooler on this ~$130 APU from AMD. Neoseeker fired up the fun sized, 125W rated cooler on top of the A10-7870K and were pleasantly surprised at the lack of noise even under load. Encouraged by the performance they overclocked the chip by 500MHz to 4.4GHz and were rewarded with a stable and still very quiet system. The review focuses more the improvements the new cooler offers as opposed to the APU itself, which has not changed. Check out the review if you are considering a lower cost system that only speaks when spoken to.
"In order to find out just how much better the 125W thermal solution will perform, I am going to test the A10-7870K APU mounted on a Gigabyte F2A88X-UP4 motherboard provided by AMD with a set of 16 GB (2 x 8) DDR3 RAM modules set at 2133 MHz speed. I will then run thermal and fan speed tests so a comparison of the results will provide a meaningful data set to compare the near-silent 125W cooler to an older model AMD cooling solution."

It would be nice not to have
It would be nice not to have to get a giant aftermarket cooler to keep the noise and temperatures down. I doubt anyone here is looking to buy an A10, but If it is going to be shipped with Zen CPUs, then it could be of interest.

ZEN 4/8 with iGPU equal to
ZEN 4/8 with iGPU equal to 260x for ~150$ would get AMD out of shit…but i think 4/8 Zen without iGPU will be more then 150$…but what we can do about it? nothing buy i3 and rx370 or 1060(50) and be happy xD
Why do you think that ? I
Why do you think that ? I doubt a 4C/8T Zen will be any bigger than a Polaris 11 GPU, ie ~120mm^2. And you can buy an entire RX 460 for ~$130, including the expensive GDDR5 and all the rest of the card.
Fail to see why a 4C/8T should cost more than ~$150 if it’s also ~120mm^2 ? AMD can’t afford to be greedy if they want market share.
Considering Intel’s unlocked
Considering Intel’s unlocked quad cores cost $310+~ USD… yeah.
Don’t expect a $150 4C/8T CPU any time soon, seeing as Zen is a new arch, on a new node process, especially if Zen IPC is actually >=Broadwell-E IPC.
AMD needs marketshare, but the vast majority of marketshare is from OEMs, not from consumers buying CPUs for home PCs.
Not for ‘CPU only’ chips.
Not for ‘CPU only’ chips. OEMs buy SoCs or APUs. Not Intel extreme editions without integrated graphics.
‘CPU only’ chips are enthusiast parts, plain and simple.
Okay. Absolutely fair.
But
Okay. Absolutely fair.
But 4C/8T CPU for $150? Again, assuming Zen is equal to BW-E in IPC, we aren’t going to see $150 4C/8T CPUs in general for likely a long while.
AMD is not a charity. They are a business.
If AMD’s Zen products are competitive, then they will be priced competitively.
As much as I would kill for a 4C/8T $150 CPU that didn’t have abysmal IPC like Bulldozer CPUs, I don’t see it as very likely.
these coolers are shipping
these coolers are shipping stock with the 860k as well
Its a cooler master heat pipe and its QUIET!!!!
