With what seems like confirmation of the inability of the 680i chipset to support 45nm processors, it’s time to take a peek at the 780i.  HardwareXL steps up, and provides us with a look at a pre-retail ASUS P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i motherboard.  It seems most a refresh of the 680i, with the major difference being PCI Express 2.0 support and Triple-SLI.  Head over and get a good look at the new nVIDIA.

Intel still going strong with their Core 2 Duo and Quad cpu’s and the popularity for the P35, X38 and the up and coming X48 chipsets left nVidia on the back burner for a while now. There have been alot of issues with the nForce680i chipset in the past and the 780i should solve most of them. Strange part is that the 780i is in fact a 680i with an added additional PCIe 2.0 bridge chipset. Here is a shot of the board and it’s layout, do keep in mind that this is not the retail version.”
