What do you get when you combine nine of North America’s best overclockers, 480 liters of liquid nitrogen and a room full of hardware just begging to be put to the test?  A hell of a way to spend a weekend!

The ASUS OC Summit took place in Santa Clara last weekend and PC Perspective went along for the ride.  At the event we saw three teams of three overclockers (Team OC Alliance, Team Pure and Team Xtreme Systems) each compete in some head to head benchmarking battles that resulted in quite a few new world records being created.  ASUS was hosting the event as a grass-roots effort to showcase the company’s new Rampage III Extreme and Maximus III Extreme motherboards (featuring the X58 and P55 chipset respectively) and demonstrate the stability of the boards in highly overclocked conditions.  According to what we saw and heard from the overclockers on site, both boards performed incredibly well and features like the ROG Connect and the easy BIOS recovery tools made the craft of overclocking quite a bit easier.

During the event we also took a look at the new ASUS G51J 3D Vision notebook and got a sneak peek at the ARES graphics card that uses two true HD 5870 GPUs for the fastest single card gaming anywhere!  Check out our video below for details on these products, interviews with ASUS staff as well as the overclockers competing for prizes and glory!
