Netbook News has posted a tasty little preview of the Asus Eee 1215 netbook featuring not only NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, but also two USB 3.0 ports. With Optimus, the Intel Atom D510 dual-core CPU (with two threads per core) will share computation responsibilities with the NVIDIA G218 discrete graphics allowing for longer battery life when handling multimedia.

While the preview only gives you a little taste of performance, the netbook does manage to squeeze out 5000 points in 3DMark 03. No word on battery life as yet.

It seems that with this netbook, there’s little reason to consider the Eee 1201N we reviewed here on PC Perspective not long ago. With USB 3.0 and Optimus, I suggest you hold on to your money and see what the initial impressions are from consumers and Editors alike.

The Asus Eee 1215 will be appearing at the Netbook Summit this week.
