We are running a poll in conjunction with our Frame Rating: Visual Effects of Vsync on Gaming Animation story that compares animation smoothness between fixed 30 FPS and 60 FPS captures and Vsync enabled versions.

If you haven't read the story linked above, these questions won't make any sense to you so please go read it and then stop back here to answer the polls!

Lol the 60fps vs the 30 fps was so obvious

Very illuminating experience Ryan.

I downloaded all of the 250 meg files, didn't use you tube and thank you for the much higher quality files.

The difference are night and day to me. Slower speeds do make the difference much more apparent but in real time they are still glaringly apparent.

Every instance 60 is better then 30 and Vsync always looks worse in all cases.

Well Ryan you've spoiled me.

I can't trust GPU reviews anymore without your pioneering Frame Rate Capturing methods.

the youtube videos make things seem very close (with only subtle differences since it forces everything to 30FPS

also for the video speeds, it seems you use an application like adobe premiere pro and used the time remap to adjust the speed rather than exporting compositions in the desired target framerate that you wanted the comparison to be so once you slowed things down to 50% or 20% it was easy to tell which video was in 60FPS (unless that was what you were going for)

The thing is when you actually game, it is a night and day difference between 30FPS and 60FPS. I can instantly tell when a game is at 30FPS and when one is at 60FPS, you can feel the difference and things look extremely smooth. I never use Vsync if my frame rates are low enough for it to snap me to 30FPS, (it is east to tell the difference between 30 and 40 FPS)

Hmm just downloaded each of the videos, and wow the difference is instantly noticed, the 60FPS looks 10 times better, just so smooth, the 30FPS looks choppy in comparison

you should put a note informing users that youtube converts everything to 30FPS and to properly see the framerates, you will have to download the videos.

The poll should have been labeled appropriately to be more clear (Skyrim 60 vs 30; Skyrim 60 vs Vsync; Skyrim 30 vs Vsync)

The easiest way to determine animation smoothness without 'cheating' via video slow down is to evaluate watch the parts where the camera swivels.

The differences in animation smoothness would have been more apparent if a fixed speed swivel was used (keyboard turn).
