The best clocks on the GTX980 graphics card!

May 5, 2015 | 08:20 AM - Posted by Lunatic Sentinel (not verified)

Over the years, I've often used Asus components in my computers, be it Graphics Cards, Motherboards, etc ... and I've never been disappointed with the end results. This new 20th Ann. Gold Edition GTX 980 confirms that Asus is committed
to quality and fully supports the gaming community. It combines a conservative design with a look that points to the future. Great looking card!!

I've been an ASUS customer for over a decade. Motherboards, video cards, desktop wallpaper heh, you name it. I'm a fan of the DirectCU II cooler (GTX780) and love the black pipes on this card but I think the best feature is the 14 phase power delivery, wow. What I like best about ASUS graphics cards, motherboards etc. is simple...I've never had an issue with an ASUS product.

May 5, 2015 | 09:26 AM - Posted by obababoy

The first PC I built had an ASUS A7N8X Motherboard and an AMD 800mhz Athlon XP CPU! Not going to lie my GPU of choice then was the ATi Radeon 9800 Pro.

About 5 motherboards since then and I am still on ASUS(well Asrock right now). They have never let me down even in the dark ages of PC building when things rarely worked well.

I also have the ASUS VG236H 3D monitor which has worked great the last 5 years except for just recently the DVI port died which means no 3D and no 120hz. :(

I won't talk about my days with a Compaq 233mhz celeron computer and 3dfx voodoo3 2000 graphics card for crushing some Everquest(except for horrible loading times and 56k lag) and Half-Life!

May 5, 2015 | 09:27 AM - Posted by Freshie

I love that all 4GB of the GDDR5 memory will be useable.

The custom coolers on ASUS cards have been really nice and it looks like that trend continues on this special edition 980. The black and gold color scheme is also a good choice—it reminds me of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

May 5, 2015 | 12:37 PM - Posted by MrRavens (not verified)

As much as we try to tell them to stop, ASUS still gives us black and gold. They got spunk, I can respect that. :P

May 5, 2015 | 12:38 PM - Posted by darth_revan43

I love the fact that it has 14 phase power delivery with Japanese made Super Alloy Power's capacitors for the VRM. This assures the card will still be functional in many years to come and that it will also achieve a better overclock with lower temperatures.

Well done ASUS!

After using a Asus GTX680-DC2T-2GD5: GeForce GTX 680 (Factory O/C) for three years without any problems what so ever, ASUS GeForce GTX 980 will make a great upgrade path.

ASUS consistently has the highest quality PC components. Their GPUs last a long while.

May 5, 2015 | 07:27 PM - Posted by Hunter Overstreet (not verified)

Asus has always been a true innovator when it comes to enthusiast and performance parts and this seems to be no exception. The clock speed is wonderful and I'm sure that the cooler is more than ample to allow the headroom of overclocking on the already efficient gtx-980 design. The move away from the red and black scheme is much appreciated though ROG products are true king for the public! Having a card by Asus, being the Strix or this amazing and rare beast would be an honor to which I would be sure to share the results on what can be achieved by the pinnacle of engineering via reviews and build logs. Currently my system is so outdated it hurts but I am currently planning an x99 gaming and sound engineering build that could use the aid of such power. Good luck to everyone involved in the contest and thank you pcperspective and Asus for the opportunity.

May 5, 2015 | 07:29 PM - Posted by westplay

I have owned Asus graphics cards since 2004 where I bought my ATI Radeon 9600XT with the Half Life 2 bundle! I never had any complaints, their pcb designs are always flawless and never had one break down. I also like their cooling units that are provided with the cards. Never too loud and always cool the cards more than enough to avoid buying a third party cooler for the card. Additionally, their cards have been very good overclockers, even in 2004! My 9600XT came with an overclocking software that increased the clocks without any hassle.

May 5, 2015 | 07:36 PM - Posted by Fabian (not verified)

Asus components always brought high quality (and long livity) to practically all my PC builds.

And this 20th Anniversary version looks pretty neat with the black and gold color scheme.

May 5, 2015 | 07:38 PM - Posted by You (not verified)

Because ASUS has provided me with great produces in the past, and I'm in desperate need of a modern GPU. Never mind they didn't provide Thunderbolt adapter for my P8Z77-V-DELUXE motherboard (which I didn't need.)

May 5, 2015 | 07:44 PM - Posted by Fred S. (not verified)

Love the design, color mix and that awesome back plate!
Also appreciate the fact that this is a rare limited edition GTX 980 that most otherwise probably never would get their hands on.

Congrats to ASUS on your 20th! I got to say your design for GPU cooler and the aesthetic of it has gotten better and better. Also great quality components inside the premium cards. My first graphic card was an ASUS, Radeon 9800 Pro. I used it to play DOOM3. To this day, that card is still running strong, albeit not with games anymore.

Fond memories...

ASUS tends to have really solid cooling solutions but to be perfectly honest, the aesthetics are the big reason that I like this card. It would look great when paired with my Z77 Extreme 6

I love everything about ASUS Graphics Cards. ASUS GTX 980 20th Anniversary Gold Edition has the highest clockspeed among gtx 980 cards making it a dream card of every gamer. I'll be very happy to have this as my first item to win in ASUS giveaways.

Thanks ASUS!

ASUS products have always been outstanding, and the color scheme on this card is pretty epic.

The card itself looks beautiful, if I did win, I would be tempted to just frame it and have it stay on the wall in my game room :)

I like its design. Very hi-tech. 10/10 would rub my face next to it.

I love the gold color of the 20th anniversary card. It makes it very different than other cards.

The look of this card is just beautiful and the power to match!

This looks like a beautiful video card in collector's item packaging - definitely worth showing off in a windowed case. In fact, if I win this I'll swap out my windowless Lian-Li aluminum case for one with a window just to show it off.

I like asus graphics cards because they not only think about performace but also reliability in a nice price point

I could list every feature they mention in the overview of the card, but the one that stands out for me is definitely the design. This 980 is one of, if not THE, sexiest cards out there.

Also, thanks ASUS and PCper for the amazing contests! Good luck to everyone!

I really like the 10%+ performance increase over reference GTX in FPS. That's awesome! The icing on the cake is that it should be quieter than a reference card as well.

Looks like a very nice upgrade to my 750ti

I own a gtx 690 and it's been working great for the last 3 years, I'm still playing most of the newer games with ultra settings. I can't complain at all but this new gtx 980 .... I have no words to describe it, it looks amazing, I really like the mix between black and gold, and about performance... It is made for those of us that can't afford a Titan, It's simply great, well designed and ready to run any game at 1080/60 and DirectX12 ready, plus the style ....

I would love to have one in my hands, I will even cut my side panel to show this beaty beast!

This card looks amazing, at last something that's not black and red from asus

I love the extra care and engineering they put into the card. The higher quality components should make for a more reliable card in general. I would be nice to overclock and not worry about cheap components on your card giving out.

I have also never seen a painted heatsink before. It looks pretty badass. I hope to see more in the future.
