While Trinity is currently rated at 726 GFLOPS, the Kaveri APU due late in 2012 or early 2013, will have at least 1 TFLOPS of total compute performance.  That is a 37% boost over the previous generation.

I was planning on upgrading my HTPC to an A8-5500 coming from an Athlon x2 2.7 with a Radeon HD 4200. Is it worth waiting for Kaveri or should I make the jump to the A8?

You should wait a another month or two and get the A10 5800K Trinity chip. Its going to have 50% faster GPU compared to A8 Llano and also have around 20-30% faster CPU compared to A8 Llano. Anyway if you don't need something that fast there is going to be 17 Watt Trinity parts also. If you don't care about either of these then buy an A8 Llano.

I just looked and didn't realize the A8 5500 is a Trinity part. The names get a little confusing but anyhow I wouldn't wait if I were you. The Trinity parts look pretty amazing. From looking at benchmarks the fastest llano part gpu is around 3-4 times faster than the HD 4200. Since benchmarks show the fastest Trinity A10-5800K is supposed to be around 50% faster than the fastest Llano part the A10-5800K should be around 3.5-4.5 faster than the HD 4200. Those are conservative figures. I would go as much as to say 4-6 times faster than HD 4200 depending on what it is you are doing. Now the A8 5500 doesn't have as fast as a GPU as the 5800K so what I just explained will change slightly but overall it will still kick the hell out of the HD 4200. It is easier to find info on 5800K so that's why I used it for comparison.

If (b) is 3-4 times faster than (a), and (c) is 50% faster than (b), then (c) should be 4.5-6 times faster than (a).

3 to 4 + 50% increase =/= 3.5 to 4.5

Stay in school kids.

You should stay in school asshole ans learn to read because if you read my entire post that is what I said idiot. Your just a troll who tries being an asshole to people.

Oh and you are wrong if something is 50% everyone knows that is 0.5 times. How do you figure that should 3-4 isn't 3.5 to 4.5 I want to see your dumb math logic now. Lets see it.

In this case the piano will sound best in a small, carpeted room as its sound is balanced by
soft, absorbent surroundings. Since scientists had previously
thought we'd have more genes than what was discovered, then there had
to be another explanation as to why there are so many variables.

A12 igp hd 7750 + 2133 ram + 2 x hd 8770 1 tflops +37% compute and + 50% igp over trinity.
ought to do pretty good
