Tegra K1 is NVIDIA's new mobile processor and this first to implement the Kepler graphics architecture. In other words, it has all of the same graphics functionality as a desktop GPU with 364 GigaFLOPs of performance (a little faster than a GeForce 9600 GT). This is quite fast for a mobile product. For instance, that amount of graphics performance could max out Unreal Tournament 3 to 2560x1600 and run Crysis at 720p. Being Kepler, it supports OpenGL 4.4, OpenGL ES 3.1, DirectX 11 and 12, and GPU compute languages.

Xiaomi is launching their MiPad in Beijing, today, with an 8-inch 2048x1536 screen and the Tegra K1. They will be available in June (for China) starting at $240 USD for the 16GB version and going up to $270 for the 64GB version. Each version has 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front camera.

Now, we wait and see if any Tegra K1 devices come to North America and Europe - especially at that price point.

And it begins, the true new dawn to a brighter future.
Respectfully powerful devices that are affordable.
We come closer to a future of near-free education and communication.

And of course.. GAMEZ.

I don't think you understood.
I mean, you replied to what I said and read my comment..
It's just you live in a much different world than I and in mine lots of little things add up to something greater.
I look past this single product and see what the industry is doing as a whole, and what that means. It's that of which I was commenting. Sorry.

It's not that I find this tablet impressive, at all.
I find the technology that drives it to be impressive.
And understand that it's going to change the world.
Not just for upper class America for once.

Soon a starving artist/student/people from developing countries, Chinese people who live in a home so small they can't even fit a PC into it... Can have access finally to things only the privileged could previously have, much easier than ever before.

Remember the 90's when a basic really SHIT computer cost $4000? Of course you don't, you're obviously too young.
And now, an equivalently -quality- built system (performance aside of course.. Haha.) Is what? 400 bucks?

Well this right here, is like that all over again.
Now our 400 dollar builds are being shaved down to the 200 dollar range and still becoming better as well.

And if THAT is to complicated for you to grasp.
Try paying for your own power bill sometime.
Then pretend one day you're given an option..
To play PC games on a system that runs off of hundreds of watts or one that runs off of 5-30?

In a world where fossil fuels run so low..

Yea' whatever I guess you're right.
YOUTUBE FTW! The kids don't need a future.

They'll run their computers off of pure ignorance!

But yea' crawl back to that weird dark hole you crawled from child and take your bastardized |33+ speak with you pl0x.

Soon a starving artist/student/people, my A$$, can the thing run Gimp, and Blender 3d, Not without a Full linux distro, and the desktop versions of openGL, openCL. Android is a worthless blob of crap, ment for consumption and not creation. Stop that Open Washing, any K1 based Tablet Locked down to Android Only is not of use for ART, no one will believe the spin. Android imprisons the Linux Kernel, to a life of Ad spewing and crap consuming uselessness.

And cut the generational crap out also, Linus gives you the finger salute, you spinion for the Ad pushers, and metrics gathers!

There are many art students all over the world using Gimp, and Blender 3d, and they need a low cost graphics tablet, that runs a full Linux OS, Android can stay on Phones and die. The real Open World runs on a full Linux distro!

Being Kepler, it supports OpenGL 4.4, really, kepler may support it, but what about about the tablet? And of course it will be be saddled with Android, and a closed ecosystem, can this tablet be side loaded with a full Linux distro, or will it be just a fancy portable Boob Tube, with some gaming. If it does not come in a full Linux version, it can stay on the shelve and collect dust. Wake me when a Steam OS version of this becomes available, otherwise ZZZZZZZZZZ.
