Well this is something that people have been demanding for quite some time. Not only will Capcom's Street Fighter V be available on the PC and PS4, but multiplayer can be a mix-and-match between the two platforms. You will not need to coordinate a platform of choice ahead of time. Players on both of these platforms will be able to connect to one another.
While Capcom has not released any further details, previous Street Fighter releases for the PC have supported local multiplayer when extra controllers are connected. The omission of Xbox One is definitely strange as well, given the exclusive agreement between Microsoft and Capcom for Dead Rising 3. Of course, different game, different contract, but it suggests a larger reason to avoid Xbox One. Two possible, not mutually exclusive reasons are: 1 – Sony paid them and/or 2 – Microsoft was too restrictive about cross platform play. In the past, Microsoft would only allow PC-Xbox cross-platform play if the PC title was branded as Games for Windows Live, which I do not think any game took advantage of (Update: Apparently I was wrong and Shadowrun actually launched cross-platform multiplayer before it was sunset). It also no longer exists.
Street Fighter V will be out… sometime… for PC and PS4.

Just a correction. A game by
Just a correction. A game by the name of ‘Shadowrun’ on Xbox 360 was cross-platform playable with the PC. I think it was the only one of its kind using GFWL and Xbox LIVE. Portal 2 used Steam with the PS3 so there is some precedence for this. I have no doubt that Street Fighter V will be using Steam.
Microsoft’s stance on closed online play hurt them here with Street Fighter V but it could have possibly been SONY forking over for some of its budget as well for console exclusivity. I’m more than happy about this game being available with cross-platform play for these systems. I’m a huge Street Fighter fan and am very glad that I no longer have to buy a PS4 just to access the whole Street Fighter V community.
Yeah I remember Shadowrun,
Yeah I remember Shadowrun, and I was a big fan of FASA. For some reason, I remembered (incorrectly) that they canceled Xbox/PC Online Multiplayer for that title.
It was CS:GO that lost
It was CS:GO that lost cross-platform multiplay in between beta and release. IIRC they just couldn’t get the balance right between console with the gamepad and PCs with KB+mouse. Too little assist and the console players get owned, too much and it’s basically aimbot.
TO the first comment. You
TO the first comment. You need to find something like World of Warcraft where your whiny sarcasm is appreciated. Pointing something out like this is something a little bitch would do. You know….
It’s just not the same
It’s just not the same without popping thousands of quarters into a box and the ever so sticky video store carpet.
As cool as it would be to play cross platform I just dont think I could drop the cash on a fighting game, perhaps on a 75% off holiday sale but not full price, especially not SF. If they do the same thing with MK-X tho, I might be a little more tempted.
HAHAHAHA I just noticed that
HAHAHAHA I just noticed that those stupid little high school prefrence wars never relay ware off do they, ha
