We now have quite a bit of information on Intel's upcoming 8th generation Core processors, specifically the Core i9-9900K, i7-9700K, and i5-9600K.  The i9 will run with a 8 cores, 16 threads at base frequency of 3.6GHz, 5GHz Boost Clock, a 16BM cache anda 95W TDP.  The i7 will run between 3.6GHz to 4.9GHz, with 8 cores, no HyperThreading with a slightly smaller 12MB cache and the same TDP.   Lastly is the i5, 6 non-HyperThreaded cores running between 3.7GHz to 4.6GHz, with 9MB cache and the same TDP as its two siblings.

About the only thing The Inquirer doesn't have are the retail prices.

"Grizzled veterans of Intel chip news will remember that some details have popped up on what to expect from ninth-generation Core chips, which will in fact still be eighth-gen processors based on tweaked Coffee Lake architecture and will be dubbed Coffee Lake S."

Sorry, Jeremy. Title's too disconnected this time.

95 Watt TDP? And what is the TDP at 5GHz, 250 watts maybe...

That boost clock's probably only for a single core, though. For 18 seconds. Where heat allows. If the VRMs provide enough stable power. And the application uses the right code paths.
So tired of their marketing now.

Also, no Hyperthreading on i5 OR i7 now? Cool. Always nice to know we're paying top dollar for resources that are still physically on the chip but were disabled for "reasons". 'Buy the i9, it's the only chip where we didn't turn a bunch of stuff off*!'

*Except ECC, but it's okay because we leave that in on the i3 chips for "other reasons".

Hey Intel! I think you forgot what industry you are in and the average intelligence of those in it. We're not absolute fools Intel. Marketing jargon need not apply here. Hopefully it only costs you your CEO and a handful of negative quarters to learn your lesson. However, given the way you fabricated and manipulated said CEO's ouster, I doubt it. Shameful.

The i7 is now the i9. The i3 received an upgrade to the i5, the i5 to the i7. The new i3 is like the old Pentium D. Just another way of looking at the same thing. You always have a choice to buy it or not.
