Look at this Mini-PC uses Embedded Raven Ridge(1) SKUs! I hope it’s not just vaporware.
“[News] (CPU)UDOO launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new SBC with Ryzen V1000 series SoCs called the UDOO BOLT. Has support for up to 32GB DDR4 ECC, USB-C ports, NVMe m.2 storage, and more.. all on a 4.7in² board ”

Stop trying to make excuses
Stop trying to make excuses and cover for Dell. They are being completely dishonest by calling that 24gb of memory. Why should I trust reviewers on small details when they won’t even call companies out on obvious BS.
My apologies if I was not
My apologies if I was not clear. Let me reiterate more succinctly:
1. I think Dell is wrong to advertise Optane this way.
2. I think that this is purely marketing, and nobody in their right mind would explain Optane in this manner outside of a marketing context.
3. I don't think Dell or Intel are trying to be evil, keeping in mind that marketing for any company is usually about pushing the boundaries of the truth, but Dell needs to change this strategy because it's not following the standard definition of what consumers have long understood to be "memory."
Without putting words in my colleagues' mouths, my understanding based on our conversation was that four out of the five of us generally hold this view, while Josh made his case for why he thinks Dell's strategy is appropriate for the target market of this product.
I can't imagine that a company allegeldly influencing shills to "cover" and "make excuses" for them would be happy with this assessment.
Hey, guys, let’s contemplate
Hey, guys, let’s contemplate doing a fresh OS install to an Optane DIMM plugged into a DIMM.2-type socket. If the Optane DIMM has a capacity of 512GB, that will happily replace a 512GB NVMe SSD in any format. Presently, the ASUS DIMM.2 add-in card only has room for 2 x M.2 SSDs; however, even if a future DIMM.2 add-in card were offered with room for 4 x M.2 SSDs, the Optane DIMM should still be faster because it uses a DRAM interface, not 4×4 PCIe 3.0 lanes. So, I’m predicting future workstation motherboards that come with an Optane “DIMM” socket, like the current ASUS DIMM.2 socket in their Zenith Extreme motherboard, but that Optane DIMM that can be formatted with a file system and host the OS i.e. fresh install etc.
p.s. Ten years ago, we filed a Provisional Patent application for a BIOS “Format RAM” feature intended to support a fresh OS install to a ramdisk assigned to an uppermost range of DRAM addresses. An Optane DIMM fits this requirement perfectly!

Optane is worse than VRAM and
Optane is worse than VRAM and noone sums both.
