Wow, AND the video is up?
I must be in the Twilight Zone

You totally are! ;)

You can get a 7970 right now from Tiger Direct for $370 and it comes with 5 new release games. Is that a deal or what. 3 year warranty too.

You just can't beat a $370 7970 + 5 games.

July 19, 2012 | 06:39 PM - Posted by Tim Verry

Yeah, that does sound like a good deal.

Trinity is now available in HP desktops. How is this if they are changing the chip???

You can purchase Trinity desktops right now from Best Buy.

Any thoughts? Can anyone explain why these are available if Trinity has not been released and doesn't plan to release for a couple more months????

Also, Trinitys GPU is running VLIW4 from 6900 series cards. They are using the decoder from GCN cards or something like that.

July 20, 2012 | 09:45 PM - Posted by Josh Walrath

Ack, I was mixing Trinity with Kaveria when talking about the GPU being GCN.  Confusion sometimes reigns in my head.

I think Trinity is being pushed out to the really big OEMs as we speak for desktop, but AMD is trying to hold off on general availability until they get rid of all those Llano chips.

You got me all excited about that thermal interface sheet, only to learn it it is not something I can purchase. Kind of mean, which is not like you at all.

Maybe it's just me but you guys all went in to helium mode after the ad (on the RSS podcast version). It doesn't seem sped up or anything, just off pitch.

The video works fine though.

July 21, 2012 | 05:16 PM - Posted by Liquid Ray

You know I had the exact same issue with the audio podcast download from iTunes. Everything was fine up until the ad then boom, helium in the headphones. Normal playback speed, higher pitched voices.

Jeremy, I too share your angst with heat sinks. Thermal paste in sheets would spread joy not paste on my repairs. If Sony doesn't want to sell these guys, hopefully, surely someone else will come up with their version for the marketplace.
