Microsoft has just released Windows 10 Version 1803 to the general public. This one is called the April Update, and it comes with the build number of 17134. It was a long update for me, clocking in at almost an hour… with a Samsung SSD and a desktop Core i7… but it went smoothly.

I could immediately notice several changes with this upgrade. First, the Settings screen has been, once again, redesigned. Each button looks smaller and wider, which I think looks a little cleaner than it has been. There is also a highlight effect, called Reveal, around your mouse cursor as you move around, but only if you have Transparency effects turned on in your Colors panel.

If you’re curious about the features, Microsoft has a handful of YouTube videos, such as:

To pick up the latest version, just run a check on Windows Update (if you’re on Windows 10).

Something you are doing is wrong, installed it 16 times today not 1 problem, I’m a system builder, downloaded latest Windows Media Creation Tool, created a Bootable USB flash drive and good to go, actually Windows 10 has never gone so smooth as it has with this “April Update”

People can still have update issues without doing something "wrong"; there are multiple hardware and software combinations that will have problems and many that will work just fine.

My update failed initially too and let me take you through the complicated steps that were rife with chances to introduce user error:

Step#1: Clicked "Check For Updates"

Step#2: wait

Windows 10 the last OS to never really be completed by the folks from Redmond. Now shouldn't that Windows 10 Window Graphic have a little constrution permit displayed.

This is the SLS of OS release cycles with billions of hours spent and nothing really ready to get off the ground after too many years spent rearranging the tiles.

It's a spoon, no it's a fork, but now it's a spork and your computer is Borked. How's that working out for your productivity over the past several years and forced updates that break things.

The OS that makes lab rats out of its users! Now on to the dissection table!

Keep it away from me. When can I get LTSB on my W10 home? That's the update I want.

Updated fine on my main PC (8700K) and a 4'th gen i5 laptop.

The only new feature I find useful is the ability to specify default audio output devices for individual programs/apps.

that ain't good ... 910 or 920 and how many times did you unplug it and plug it back in ... as in does it consider it an unidentified USB device or just doesn't acknowledge its existence at all?
