Do you have a desperate need for a new processor, which precludes waiting for Ryzen to arrive? Newegg and AMD have launched a giveaway you might be interested in, a free copy of Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation with the purchase of certain 6 or 8 core AMD FX processors.
Models include the AMD FX-8370 with Wraith cooler, FX-8350 BE, FX-8320, FX-8300, FX-6350 and FX-6300. They may not be the newest chips on the block but they didn't cost very much and they lasted a long while; plus they are currently on sale. The giveaway lasts until May 7, 2017, or when the keys run out, so you can keep an eye on pricing if you want even better pricing.

I am a huge AMD fan, but I can’t see this having any impact.
Maybe if you already have an AM3+ socket motherboard and one of the earliest Bulldozer processors, this might get your attention. “I’ll swap out my FX-4100 for an FX-6300 and get Ashes of the Singularity. Cool!”
But otherwise? Nah. My son and I just put together a PC for him, and we went for Kaby Lake Pentium G4600 (since some of the Kaby Lake Pentiums, including that one, have hyperthreading). CPU + motherboard was $150. The FX-6x and FX-8x processors might beat it on some multi-threaded benchmarks, but it’s got the edge in single-threaded and more importantly we can swap in a Kaby Lake i5 or i7 in a few years. AM3+ is dead.
You logic is a tad flawed.
You logic is a tad flawed. Ashes is a DX12 game. Only AMD supports Asynch Compute and Asynch Compute Shader pipelines.
No Intel/NVidia system will support either.
Buying the latest Intel CPU may have been good for an obsolete API such as DX11 but not for DX12 or Vulkan.
Single core processing no longer matters with Asynch Compute and DX12. Ashes is written to take advantage of that.
Furthermore, RX480 8gb boards are selling for about $225. Get two RX480 boards as Explicit Multi-adaptor will show a performance increase better than Geforce GTX 1080. Three RX 480 will outperform Geforce Ti when it pops up. This is NOT Crossfire. This is DX12 again.
Yeah…
Yeah… No

Again, I’m an AMD fanboy. But facts exist whether we like them or not. I actually have two RX-480s and I’m happy with them. But that doesn’t magically mean the FX-8350 + RX-480 will outdo a recent Core i5 or i7 + GTX 1060 in this game.
Even if you could get almost
Even if you could get almost 100% scaling with those 480s, the only thing the radeons will beat 1080/ti in for sure is all of the wattage you’ll be using in comparison. Enjoy your stutter.
Plus same two/three cheap 480s would beat Vega as well. You think AMD would allow that. Unless you think Vega is only going to be $500.
“Enjoy your stutter.”
looool.
“Enjoy your stutter.”
looool. Maybe in SLI. Crossfire has Frame Pacing, you ignorant twit.
Here’s some facts for you to
Here’s some facts for you to deny reality of stutter again in xfire. This is for two newer modern games. I didn’t even have to try hard to get these.

It must be frame pacing that allows the radeons frame rate to bounce up and down like a seismograph during an earthquake. Oops frame rate dropped drop some frames and shoot way back up. See how that works.

Clear out inventory! I was at Microcenter and saw a bundled FX8320BE with AM3 motherboard for $99. I don’t even need or want it, but it almost seems like too good a deal to pass up.

Ha. Ha. What is Asses of the Shitularity selling for pennies for it to be bundled with cheap garbage processors with Ryzen on the horizon. They had to something with poor sales coming from their deliberate decision to nerf Nvidia GPUs on their engine.

I would buy it if a microcenter was still open near me !
The FX is wildly underrated.
(specially if the MB let you tweak voltage, those FX chips are overvolted like mad)
It actually aged much, much better then the i7-2600k
Check doom vulkan Bench…
Doom Vulkan is a band aid to
Doom Vulkan is a band aid to fix the shortcomings of a weaker CPU. There are currently only 4 games after a year that utilize it. How’s it perform in 99.5% of the rest of games and applications. Don’t judge a cpu’s worth on one application.
With Ryzen coming out, even if they attain a good percentage of leak reported performance, it obsoletes the entire FX line up.
I realize some of you don’t have enough money for a new system or at least motherboard and possibly ram and aftermarket cooler.
I’d still wait until Ryzen has been out a few months to buy an FX processor. They are bundling a game with it to get you to buy before they drop prices. Wait and it should be much cheaper.

I have a FX-8320 running at 4.2ghz and 1.2v (got it super cheap and the MB was free)
The biggest surprise was the low power usage/heat….
But here is my problem, I can raise the MHZ higher and I can do prime95 for hours. but only in “small FFT” where it generate the most heat, but as soon as I try the other mode, my temperature drop , but it fails under 1 minute.
Seem to me the buldozer/piledriver got a nasty designed memory controller. (and also about half the speed of intel)
That is because the cores
That is because the cores share a lot of resources and are not true cores when compared with an Intel. The rule of thumb was you need twice as many cores of AMD to equal performance of an Intel. This definitely won’t be true with Ryzen. I think AMD learned from their mistakes.
Not a whole lot of incentive
Not a whole lot of incentive when ashes of singularity can be bought $5-6 on g2a
I would love to have one,
I would love to have one, perfect for my gaming needs and perhaps I can use it as well for writing some BestCustomWriting testimonials. An AMD processor for my gaming stuff is a dream come true as I can play a whole bunch of games I’ve been wanting to play.
