NVIDIA's Quadro vDWS creates Tesla powered servers

NVIDIA have updated their GRID virtual PC architecture to allow up to 24 virtual desktops, each with a 1GB desktop, doubling the previous capacity of their virtual machine tool.  Along with this increase comes a new service called Quadro vDWS which allows you to power those virtual desktops with one of their HPC cards like their Pascal-based line of Tesla GPU accelerators.  For workflows which incorporate things such as VR or photorealism this will offer a significant increase in performance; unfortunately Minesweeper will not see any improvements.  NVIDIA accompanied this launch with a new blade server, the Tesla P6 which has 16GB of memory which can be split down to 16 1GB virtual desktops.   Drop by The Inquirer for more information including on where to get this new software.

But the pro Nvidia SKUs are required while AMD allows users to use KVM/PCIe passthrough on AMD's consumer GPU SKUs with Zen/Ryzen MBs working fine for PCIe passthrough after that AMD AGESA firmware update(TB MBs Also, and Epyc Rocks even better on the Price/Feature/performane Metrics).

AMD also allows one physical GPU to be partitioned off into logical GPUs so Virtual Machine(KVM/Other hosted) OS instances can Share a single GPU's power. That Nvidia "virtual machine tool" is just Nvidia's way to do what can already be done and has been done on its Professional($$$$$$) ONLY GPU SKUs for a while now, and AMD has the same ability but AMD does NOT restrict that ability to AMD's profssional GPU SKU only.

And how about that Vega 64 consumer SKU beating the Quadro P6000-24GB SKU($$$$$$) on some intresting Workstation workloads over at the techgage website.
