If you are so lucky as to be one of the 8086 people who won an Intel i7-8086K, live in the US and can be one of the first 40 to respond to AMD you can trade in your Anniversary Edition for a Threadripper 1950X. AMD have offered this limited, tongue in cheek deal for those who prefer a higher PCIe lane count to a higher frequency, at least as long as you are a US resident. The i7-8086K does offer better overall performance, though it can be finicky as Ken and others have discovered. The Intel contest is closed, but they do state it may take up to two weeks for the winners to receive a confirmation email, hopefully they arrive in time for those who would like to swap. The Inquirer has a link to Intel's Twitter response to this move, if you are interested.
"AMD HAS PICKED UP A STICK and decided to give Intel a damn-good prod, as it's offering people who've won the Core i7-8086K the option to trade it in for its own Threadripper 1950X."

I’d choose ThreadRipper any day.

It’s a choice between 6 cores
It’s a choice between 6 cores or 10 more cores than 6 cores and that’s a whole lot of extra cores for some lucky winners if they choose the 16 core Threadripper 1950X.
What a 40th anniversary for some lucky few who can get more than double the cores if they 86 their 8086Ks over to AMD for lots more Cores, PCIe 3.0 lanes, and 4 memory channels.
Marketing Revenge is a dish best served sub ambient right back at Intel.
“The i7-8086K does offer better overall performance”
Really a 6 core CPU can beat a 16 core CPU on multithreaded benchmarks and what about other workloads besides gaming at lower resoultions.
No trade. My Cinebench score
No trade. My Cinebench score is fine, and I never had any complaints in the rack, so I don’t need this, just like I don’t need a jacked-up 4-wheel-drive truck or a Corvette. I’ll just keep my quick efficient Tesla, I mean i7.
Really Intel …
Really Intel …
Are there even any winners? I
Are there even any winners? I would think with 2000+ being given away someone on slickdeals or the tech sites would have popped up gloating. I’ve seen nothing. Maybe Intel is being slow administering the winners notifications…
I assumed that I had lost out
I assumed that I had lost out but I just received my confirmation e-mail today, however AMD seems to be aware of this since their “swap” doesn’t start for a few more days.
