UPDATE: Contest is closed!  We'll announce a winner in the next couple of days!! Thanks to all who entered and to our sponsors for allowing us the chance to give away this kick-ass system!

UPDATE 2: Congratulations to user Cameron Berry as they are the winner of the PCAudioLabs sweepstakes sponsored by PC Perspective and Intel!!  Thanks to everyone that participated and be sure to stay tuned for more contests right here on!

Our fans and readers have supported PC Perspective since its formation in 2004 and even before that back in the days of and, and because of that support, we have been able to provide you with reviews and information on a continuous basis that we feel are the best in the industry.  And when we get the chance to give back to you, we jump at the chance and that is just what happened a couple weeks ago when our long time friends at Intel introduced us to the folks at PCAudioLabs for a sweepstakes of impressive proportions.

For the next two weeks we are giving our readers the chance to win a complete PCAudioLabs computer based on the Intel X79 platform and Sandy Bridge-E!!  If you aren't familiar with PCAudioLabs, here is a rundown of their mission from their website:

PCAudioLabs was formed early in 2000 by Thomas Bolton and Fred Rosenbloom. At the time, they were both working at Steinberg North America in the technical department and they noticed a great need for more educational tools for music production. With a video camera and a desire to inform, they started making in depth tutorial guides to some of the biggest software products in music production. The company was a huge success but it quickly became apparent that even if people knew how to use their software, it wouldn’t be of much help if the computer they were trying to use it on didn’t do its job.

PCAudioLabs built their first custom DAW for world renowned Engineer/Producer Mark Howard and within months they were the hottest system builders in the country. Besides the enormous list of pro users that have chosen PCAudioLabs, AMD, Intel and Microsoft have all turned to PCAudioLabs whenever they have audio needs.

In 2007, PCAudioLabs tripled in size, moving into a new location and increasing staff to meet demand. By NAMM 2008, PCAudioLabs was not only the supplier of PC’s for music software giants Steinberg and Cakewalk, but also hardware manufacturers such as Roland, Yamaha and Euphonix.

Although our task is technical, we know our staff needs to be able to relate to you and your situation. That’s why not only are the people who will build your system experts in computing, they are also musicians. In fact, any person you e-mail or speak to at PCAudioLabs makes music, so you’ll never have to worry about asking a musical question and getting a technical response – we speak your language.

Inside this brand-new generation of Rok Box you'll find an Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E processor along with a great Intel DX79TO motherboard.  Kingston has supplied 16GB of DDR3 memory to keep your audio creation rolling even with a ton of applications loaded up.  Storage is powered by a 240GB Intel 510 SSD as well as dual 1TB spinning drives for recording and sampling simultaneously.  ASUS has provided the GTX 560 Ti CUII TOP graphics card and the entire system is powered by an 850 watt Antec High Current Pro power supply.  In total, the system from PCAudioLabs will retail for right around $3,000!!

That isn't all though as PCAudioLabs has included full versions of software required for audio production including Cakewalk Sonar X1 Essential, Native Instruments Komplete Element's, IK Multimedia's Amplitube FREE and much more.  The software alone is valued at more than $600 bringing the total value here to over $3,600!  See the PCAudioLabs website for more details.

I am sure you are interested in the system itself so we have created a short video to go over the hardware as well as the software included in this bundle - check it out!

Without a doubt you are wondering what you have to do to win this system.  The steps are simple:

  1. Visit the PCAudioLabs Facebook page at, "Like" it and leave a comment on the wall if you want as well, thanking them for supporting PC Perspective and the audio creation community.  They are supporting PC Perspective by giving us this system and allowing US to support YOU with the giveaway, so get over here and support THEM!
  2. Leave a comment on this PC Perspective post below (registration is not required, though recommended) telling us and the PCAL crew what you plan to do with this system, how you'll utilize its power in your audio creation projects, etc.  What will the Rok Box improve or make easier for you?
  3. And if you want to follow us for more PC hardware news and upcoming contests you can do so at several locations. and

That's it!  Our sweepstakes will run between today at end at 12:01am EST on March the 6th.  If you don't have your entry in by then, you are out of luck.  We will pick a random winner from the comments and ship the system out that week in March.  You are responsible for any taxes / tariffs but we'll cover the shipping to anywhere in the world.

A HUGE thanks goes out to our friends at PCAudioLabs and Intel for making this possible and we hope you all appreciate the work that goes into putting something like this on.  Also, thanks goes to Antec, ASUS and Kingston for their support as well.

Good luck to everyone and happy audio editing!!

this "Rok Box" would be an awesome upgrade to my system. I'd use it to splice, dice, and remix tracks a la "Girl Talk". As well, I'd record my own, admittedly amateur musician that I am. And of course, game. Thanks PCAudioLabs and PC Perspective for this chance!

I'd give it to my husband - his main desktop has been lightning-fried for over a year.

March 3, 2012 | 04:31 PM - Posted by talonts (not verified)

I'm not sure if I would use it for audio or not, other than an audio server. I WOULD, however, use it for video, and as my main desktop, as my newest system currently uses an E4400 CPU.

The PC Audio Labs Rok Box combine the perfect mix of both hardware and software that would be most suitable for me to further explore and actually produce the audio that has been envisioned in my head, for quite some time.It can be frustrating to hear 'stuff' in one's head and believe it to be possible, but can't seem to get there without the proper tools.
Actually I think that the PC Audio Labs Rok Box rig combined with the software is an instrument all by itself.
Having a background that is mostly acoustic,& the ability to score for all the orchestral instrument is one thing, The potential of creation with digital software and the support available are truly inspirational to actually get done ! :)
Thank you PC Perspective and PC Audio Labs for this opportunity for the possibility to make some sonic 'visions' in one's head a reality some day.

Thank you PCAudioLabs for supporting my favorite podcast PC Perspective. Because of quality sponsors such as yourself, the PC Perspective podcast is able to provide and keep me up to date on my weekly hardware news while I search for a job. Multitasking for the win.

Current system: with a 320GB HD upgrade. And a 17" external monitor with.

Yeah I kinda need this system upgrade. I feel like I've been living in the stone age and I haven't played a real PC game in 4+ years.

March 5, 2012 | 11:02 AM - Posted by Lamar Bowen (not verified)

Thank you for a chance at this awesome rig. First and foremost I am a gamer but with the power this beast has to offer I would be most interested in learning how to DJ digitally. My cousin is also an aspiring musician so I would find some way to coordinate something with him as well. Thanks to all the sponsors and good luck to everyone :)

March 5, 2012 | 12:44 PM - Posted by Gotmilk

Thanks PC Perspective and PCAudioLabs. I think, if I won, I would use this system to do some video editing and transcoding of a ton of old family 'stuff' on video - making some digital copies.

I'd also work on some family photographs in the same fashion - transferring photos to a digital format.

...and a game or two would sneak in on that system!=P.

March 5, 2012 | 01:53 PM - Posted by matti alexander christensen (not verified)

this system would not only be a great help to our group it would be highly needed. the 4 of us young guys have scraped together just enough money to start building a studio in a spare bedroom, and winning this system would enable us to go a bit further on the sound proofing, or perhaps go for a better mixer, as well as generally being outside of the pricerange we would be able to use on our studio computer.

March 5, 2012 | 03:30 PM - Posted by Eric N (not verified)

March 5, 2012 | 03:39 PM - Posted by RushManiac

Well..Thanks PC Per and PCAL for contest and I have always wanted to make my own horror movie and this would be the perfect computer to start on that long journey. Just think of all the sounds and music you can make with this computer and then link it to a horror movie. Behind every great horror movie are great sounds and music..think Halloween..JAWS..Friday the 13th..etc!! Without the music/sound effects..they wouldn't be horror classics!

PC Perspective is the best PC hardware podcast on the net. Can you explain to users more about how Audio informs your system build philosophy on the hardware side of things?

March 5, 2012 | 04:20 PM - Posted by xzor (not verified)

I would, probably unlike most of the people here, actually use it for audio development. I've been formally trained as an audio engineer, and have always been fascinated by acoustics and the silence behind it.

I bought this book back in 2002 And if anyone is looking for an audio source...look no farther :D

I've been doing computer assisted audio since my first PAIA hand-soldered hexadecimal-display 8K-memory cassette-tape synthesizer-driving system in the mid 70s. How times have changed... with your help! I've gone through lots of hardware and software over the years -- but this prize system tops it all! I'm doing mostly soft-synth stuff these days, which asks for more and more power from the hardware. I promise I'll make really good use of this prize if I'm lucky enough to take it home. Thanks for everything!

Thanks again for another amazing giveaway and good luck to all who enter. ;D
