UPDATE: Contest is closed!  We'll announce a winner in the next couple of days!! Thanks to all who entered and to our sponsors for allowing us the chance to give away this kick-ass system!

UPDATE 2: Congratulations to user Cameron Berry as they are the winner of the PCAudioLabs sweepstakes sponsored by PC Perspective and Intel!!  Thanks to everyone that participated and be sure to stay tuned for more contests right here on!

Our fans and readers have supported PC Perspective since its formation in 2004 and even before that back in the days of and, and because of that support, we have been able to provide you with reviews and information on a continuous basis that we feel are the best in the industry.  And when we get the chance to give back to you, we jump at the chance and that is just what happened a couple weeks ago when our long time friends at Intel introduced us to the folks at PCAudioLabs for a sweepstakes of impressive proportions.

For the next two weeks we are giving our readers the chance to win a complete PCAudioLabs computer based on the Intel X79 platform and Sandy Bridge-E!!  If you aren't familiar with PCAudioLabs, here is a rundown of their mission from their website:

PCAudioLabs was formed early in 2000 by Thomas Bolton and Fred Rosenbloom. At the time, they were both working at Steinberg North America in the technical department and they noticed a great need for more educational tools for music production. With a video camera and a desire to inform, they started making in depth tutorial guides to some of the biggest software products in music production. The company was a huge success but it quickly became apparent that even if people knew how to use their software, it wouldn’t be of much help if the computer they were trying to use it on didn’t do its job.

PCAudioLabs built their first custom DAW for world renowned Engineer/Producer Mark Howard and within months they were the hottest system builders in the country. Besides the enormous list of pro users that have chosen PCAudioLabs, AMD, Intel and Microsoft have all turned to PCAudioLabs whenever they have audio needs.

In 2007, PCAudioLabs tripled in size, moving into a new location and increasing staff to meet demand. By NAMM 2008, PCAudioLabs was not only the supplier of PC’s for music software giants Steinberg and Cakewalk, but also hardware manufacturers such as Roland, Yamaha and Euphonix.

Although our task is technical, we know our staff needs to be able to relate to you and your situation. That’s why not only are the people who will build your system experts in computing, they are also musicians. In fact, any person you e-mail or speak to at PCAudioLabs makes music, so you’ll never have to worry about asking a musical question and getting a technical response – we speak your language.

Inside this brand-new generation of Rok Box you'll find an Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E processor along with a great Intel DX79TO motherboard.  Kingston has supplied 16GB of DDR3 memory to keep your audio creation rolling even with a ton of applications loaded up.  Storage is powered by a 240GB Intel 510 SSD as well as dual 1TB spinning drives for recording and sampling simultaneously.  ASUS has provided the GTX 560 Ti CUII TOP graphics card and the entire system is powered by an 850 watt Antec High Current Pro power supply.  In total, the system from PCAudioLabs will retail for right around $3,000!!

That isn't all though as PCAudioLabs has included full versions of software required for audio production including Cakewalk Sonar X1 Essential, Native Instruments Komplete Element's, IK Multimedia's Amplitube FREE and much more.  The software alone is valued at more than $600 bringing the total value here to over $3,600!  See the PCAudioLabs website for more details.

I am sure you are interested in the system itself so we have created a short video to go over the hardware as well as the software included in this bundle - check it out!

Without a doubt you are wondering what you have to do to win this system.  The steps are simple:

  1. Visit the PCAudioLabs Facebook page at, "Like" it and leave a comment on the wall if you want as well, thanking them for supporting PC Perspective and the audio creation community.  They are supporting PC Perspective by giving us this system and allowing US to support YOU with the giveaway, so get over here and support THEM!
  2. Leave a comment on this PC Perspective post below (registration is not required, though recommended) telling us and the PCAL crew what you plan to do with this system, how you'll utilize its power in your audio creation projects, etc.  What will the Rok Box improve or make easier for you?
  3. And if you want to follow us for more PC hardware news and upcoming contests you can do so at several locations. and

That's it!  Our sweepstakes will run between today at end at 12:01am EST on March the 6th.  If you don't have your entry in by then, you are out of luck.  We will pick a random winner from the comments and ship the system out that week in March.  You are responsible for any taxes / tariffs but we'll cover the shipping to anywhere in the world.

A HUGE thanks goes out to our friends at PCAudioLabs and Intel for making this possible and we hope you all appreciate the work that goes into putting something like this on.  Also, thanks goes to Antec, ASUS and Kingston for their support as well.

Good luck to everyone and happy audio editing!!

My name is Patrick and I am from Poland. Currently I live in UK and I`m studying 2 year IT course. My assignments require work out of college. To do this, I need good computer to enlarge my knowledge about hardware and video productions. I`m currently working on Intel Pentium IV which is not as good as these days require. So basically I would definately use this rig for my college work, some video creation and overall closer look how hardware inside works. Computers are my passion and I would like to carry on extending my knowledge about IT. I really wish I could have any chances to win this rig. Thank you PCPer for great work.

I'd actually give this to my dad. He's a great musician (been playing bass & normal guitar since he was 12. He's almost 60). He doesn't have a lot of money & he's always trying to get me to put audio recording software on the family computer (much to my mother's dismay). This would truly be a great help to him, especially now that one of the last kids is moving out & he gets a music room.

Would love to win this. Would use it for video encoding but would take advantage of all the great software to start dabbling in the audio realm and hopefully bring some great sound to the videos I'm working on.

February 20, 2012 | 02:24 PM - Posted by Grunteh

Thanks PCPer and PCAudioLabs, for this amazing contest.

I would use this to replace my aging Athlon II X4 and continue to produce music, at a faster pace due to the speed of the new computer

February 20, 2012 | 02:24 PM - Posted by timmyisme22

Not much of an audio-creation kinda man. While I'd love that system for myself (the hardware looks fantastic), I'd probably give it as a gift to my brother. I don't create much audio and it would be wasted on me personally, but my brother could utilize it and have a better way to create his music and that of his friends (young college students in Portland, OR).

Either way, thanks for the chance PCPer and PCAL at winning this awesome system!

February 20, 2012 | 02:28 PM - Posted by Joshua Carpenter (not verified)

Great looking rig. I am not very creative at all, and couldn't compose a listenable piece of music if my life depended on it. I am a good consumer, though, so I would use it as a gaming rig, and media streamer.

February 20, 2012 | 02:58 PM - Posted by Rory Sutherland (not verified)

Thanks to pcAudioLabs for the great build.

February 20, 2012 | 02:58 PM - Posted by Kilroywashere (not verified)

My brother has a youtube channel so I will be able to edit his vidoes. I could up date my pc from like mine that I got in 2009 or 2010. The GPU & more RAM could help me when I make photos in Fireworks CS5. Since my pc is a little old the little sound system I have could sound wayyy better since my pc's sound suck. The GPU can also let me run games that I play on my spare time. I would love to win this since I was thinking of making a new pc but I lack funs and time.

February 20, 2012 | 03:12 PM - Posted by wargames12

Playing in two different bands (one reggae, one punk), I've been striving for making a home recording setup but what ive lacked mostly is the cash for a decent recording rig. with this i would be able to grab some drum mics and get right into it. it would be so awesome! time at a decent studio is ridiculously expensive, so i would love to be able to complete my home studio.

February 20, 2012 | 03:20 PM - Posted by Benj Hamilton (not verified)

I would use this to help my indy game development business get started. Likely to record sound effects, and to process audio. I haven't updated my system for recording since 2004 and I really miss writing music.

February 20, 2012 | 03:23 PM - Posted by tzaar0723 (not verified)

As a recording/writing musician, this would be an amazing upgrade to my current set-up, and the beginning of an awesome home recording studio! Please toss my entry into the hat for this contest, and thanks PCPER and PCAudioLabs! :)

February 20, 2012 | 03:25 PM - Posted by guano

With this system, I could finally have dedicated hardware for my recording. Reducing hardware/software conflicts by not changing the configuration is vital in production. This is a key missing piece to my setup! I'm using KRK Rokit 5's and Rokit 10s and an m-audio ProFire 610 on my PC to record and mix at the moment. The dedicated hard drives would be a really nice touch. I'm currently using 2, not 3. All of my software is aging. I would love some new tools! Engineering is really more my thing than songwriting. I have played guitar for almost 20 years but gear is my passion. This rig will just give me so much more flexibility to set up a permanent recording space separate from my gaming PC. I have to carry my Antec P182 up and down the stairs to record drums and guitar in my space. I can move the vocal recording space to the downstairs but there is no room upstairs for a kit and the space under my stairs is a perfect spot for a half stack to be recorded... Thank you PCPer, Intel and PCAudioLabs!

As a college student, I'm pursuing an Associates in Applied Science, but as a marching band student, music is in my blood, and I'd probably get back into DJ-ing small gigs to help pay for college tuition. Right now my dual core AMD rig can't exactly handle PCDJ software, or the Video DJ software! :)
Thanks for the great contest.

I've love to use this pcaudiolabs setup to work on new sound effects and music for some video game mod's that I have been working on. Given the quality of hardware in this setup, there's no doubt in my mind that it would boost productivity.

February 20, 2012 | 03:33 PM - Posted by Anonymous (not verified)

This will be a great upgrade, and I will be actually able to edit live music right after church is over

February 20, 2012 | 03:33 PM - Posted by erakith

I've been playing around with Cubase and Logic forever, but the my lack of sound quality and performance parts makes the task monotonous and generally unfun.
It can be quite a motivation killer to sit in front of a machine for quite some time doing what people with the luxury of a better computer could do in half the time (or less.)

I'm heavily influenced by genre-splicing - genres like trip hop, for example (see Portishead, Wax Tailor, UNKLE, Chinese Man). I also love remixing tracks and taking them out of their intended demographic, like dropping a classical backing to what was once a rather aggressive hip-hop track.

Creativity is endless, however bank balances are not, and I simply cannot afford to build a PC to suit my needs.

All that said, thanks for posting these sweeps, it's great that there'll be one more musician with the tools to create masterpieces - even if it isn't me.

With this box I'd be able to bring my current editing rig into the 21st century!

February 20, 2012 | 03:55 PM - Posted by Richard (not verified)

With a system this powerful, I would dare to play some of the newest pc game releases. I would also 'try' (I have a terrible voice) and make some music recordings. I can sing in my head but what comes out of my mouth is different!

Thanks for hosting a huge giveaway, Intel, PCAudioLabs and PC Perspective.

Hello, I am currently a DJ and Music Producer (this is my job/living) and right now am using a buckled down AMD system with an "alright" sound card. With this kind of machine, I could be easily doing my songs and remixes up at much better speeds and with better feedback.
Right now the latency I have to write my music with does not provide adequate feedback and I feel that this machine is going to be nothing but success for me and my dreams. Thank you guys for making such a good community for us.

February 20, 2012 | 03:57 PM - Posted by Madeleine (not verified)

I'd love to win because I'm a non-trad, returning college student, and although it's not my major, I'm taking some audio engineering classes on the side, so it'd be nice to have a machine that's beast mode and have enough power to never slow me down while I toy around in all these shiny applications like pro tools.

Thanks PC Per & PC Audio Labs.

Basically, I would love to win this machine as it'd be a substantial upgrade from my Athlon quad-core, like wise it fits my small system needs. I'd primarily use it to record and edit the podcast that I produce, as well as doing some light video editing & transcoding work for publishing to Youtube.

More so Rok Box would be a great addition to my arsenal of tools for the pure power of the machine. For audio editing my current machine is adequate, but it still takes a good chunk of time to compile & transcode the audio from the lossless WAV format to the lossy MP3 format used for publishing. More so, the video portion of my work would be cut down to 1/4th the time it would normally take. Which is a huge increase in productivity.

I am known as Kevin Cardinale and Shakaama [a.k.a. Kevin Hatcher]

I think the planets are really aligning for me. This contest has come exactly at a time when I have been looking for equipment to launch my singing career help me in my singing career dream. For the past few weeks I've been researching the best rig to put together for this exact purpose.

I have contacted several people from youtube who are engineers and singers and gotten input from them as well. Winning this, would be a godsend, both financially and alleviate the headache of putting all of this together myself. I have tried to do all of this myself, with the current equipment I have, which turned out like this:

As you can see, it was sub-par. I decided, I would serve my purposes best by improving my voice and saving money to buy better equipment.

Thank you Intel, Pc Per, Pc Audiolabs, Antec, and Asus.

ThiS would be a great dedicated box for my VoiceOver work. No more sharing with the wife and mucking around with software changes to the environment over time.

February 20, 2012 | 04:50 PM - Posted by Anonymous (not verified)

I would like to create new music styles, like chillstep.

February 20, 2012 | 04:59 PM - Posted by Myndmelt (not verified)

I have been thinking about making a music creation system for a while but I really havn't had the time or money to dedicate to building a separate system with high end components. I would use the system for creating free high-quality songs that I would make available online, as well as do some video editing for skits and song that would be posted to Youtube. I also have a few website projects that need some music themes added to them and the use of a system like this would greatly help me into getting this done. The Rok Box would make things easier to me by adding a seperate system that I could leave connected to my musical recording gear instead of my current one system that I use for gaming, coding, surfing, etc.

Winning this system would allow me to start into audio mixing, it's something i have looked into but i piece together most of my computers from spare parts.... Can't do too much with it.

First off I'd like to thank PCAudioLab, PCPerspective and Intel for creating this giveaway.
This rig would help me so much with my friend's videos and podcasts. I would even be able to start creating my own projects on the side. My current computer is showing it's age as of late lol.

Thank you to PCPer, Intel, Antec, ASUS, Kingston and PCAudioLabs for the contest.

This rig would have many useful aspects.
I can play newest games on this,
which i will when i win this due to its monstrous GPU.
I can also do 3d animation alongside my studies.
Iverything will be smooth with its cool processor
and quad stick RAM. this is just wow!

music, audio, video, games,
all these are pawned with this rig.

February 20, 2012 | 06:12 PM - Posted by raulduke

thanks pcper and PCAudioLabs and Intel for making this possible ..

this rigg is sweet, but seems lacking in the audio chipset/card department.
TBH, i think this would make a sweet VM server with 64GB of ram support.. and sneak in some gaming on the side, as well :)
so i probably would get less work done faster ....

good luck every one!

February 20, 2012 | 06:25 PM - Posted by anahamkarah

This machine is a beast!! If I won, I couldn't wait to open up some larger projects of mine that are pretty sluggish, bet this system would make short work of them! Thanks for the contest!

I've been building my own PCs since I was 5. That's 30 years. I have not once had the spare cash to be able to outright BUY a working PC in that entire time. In addition to that, I have numerous friends who create their own music in various forms who need a place to record it. I already have a sound-proofed me out with the PC to put in it!

I currently use my q8200 based system for rendering,so if i win this i'll be able to reduce my render times ,by doing so i can spend less time waiting in front of the pc to get renders finished and use more time for other stuff like more modeling or studying ;)

And would also love to play latest releasing games with full eye candy :D

February 20, 2012 | 07:44 PM - Posted by omegadoom13

I have a computer that is over 9 years old so winning this awesome system would be a huge upgrade for me. I love photography, especially video multimedia work, so I would use the system for doing that as well as for gaming! Thanks!

February 20, 2012 | 08:01 PM - Posted by Matt Soule (not verified)

I would tie this system into my network which consists of both audio and visual components, and to expand on my home theater system. I've worked with audio creation and editing over the years and this would finally give me a machine powerful enough to work with audio quickly. I would also use it in a DLNA capacity for audio and video streaming. Finally, its just so significantly better than the machine I have right now it would also make gaming more enjoyable.

I've been an amateur music creator for years, usually running line-out from a small practice amp to the line-in on my fifteen year old SB Live PCI card :) While that setup is barely hanging on, having a system of this caliber would inspire me to step up my efforts and move into the 21st century!

February 20, 2012 | 09:42 PM - Posted by Freshie

I would love this computer because me and my friends love this to make fun of our friends by messing with editing songs. The computer and the soft ware would help for sure on this.

Don't have Rox in your Box?
Just need tones in your stones?
Make an objective for PC Perspective.
Set a tab on PCAudioLabs.
Recording is swell, according to Intel :)

It would be nice to get my kids into music, as budget cuts over recent years have left school music programs lacking to say the least.

Studying audio engineering at community college, wouldn't mind having better equipment than the school's...

February 20, 2012 | 10:50 PM - Posted by Dreadteir

Hey, I'm going to be honest, I won't be creating much audio with this system, but it will make an excellent centre piece for my upcoming home theatre!

February 20, 2012 | 10:54 PM - Posted by Dan Boersma (not verified)

just wow, just wow, is all i have to say, i my friend won the last won, and she loves it, wtg Amanda Secord :)

February 20, 2012 | 11:00 PM - Posted by Anonymous (not verified)

Woah this is a really nice contest, props to PCAudioLabs.
This would be a serious upgrade in orders of magnitude to my current system. The real advantage for me would be the software bundled, just thinking about the amount of libraries and sequencers makes me drool. Definitely give my mash-ups some individuality.

February 20, 2012 | 11:39 PM - Posted by Alexander Genvarev (not verified)

Great giveaway! I need to pimp my PC.

February 20, 2012 | 11:50 PM - Posted by Cameron Berry (not verified)

I am a full time college student and part-time custom integration professional (home theaters...etc.), and I love audio and video editing as a hobby.

My bother teaches pro-tools at Full Sail University and if I had a rig like this, I think will take him up on some lessons.

February 21, 2012 | 12:50 AM - Posted by Hokgiarto Saliem (not verified)

Dear PCPer,
I really want to try mixing audio with this new system. I like audio because people still can tolerate bad video in the movie but they can't tolerate bad audio. I hope I have a chance to do it.

Thank you,

I've been looking to upgrade my aging Core i7-920 video editing system with something more robust, with sights set on music production and audio mixing. This would be just the ticket!

Whoa, what will I do with it? What -won't- I!

February 21, 2012 | 06:05 AM - Posted by Justine Juan (not verified)

I am a highschool student, and I need this kind of computer because of all the projects that the school gives. It is always about editing videos, modelling, and photoshopping. My computer could not handle it, so I need to upgrade. But I do not have enough cash to do that, so I am risking all that I can to enter contests and win prizes.
