How would you feel about a computer whose main processor was mostly E. Coli?  Previously, problems arose in the amount of energy it took to turn a protein from on to off, but nanotechweb reports on 2 researchers from Cambridge University have found a way to make it work.  Feels like you could infect your PC on purpose as a type of upgrade, 50 years from now.

"Theoretical physicists in the UK have shown that it should be possible to use clusters of proteins to perform complex logic operations. The work could also improve our understanding of protein "switches".
