Frictional Games Next Project Teased.

I always wondered what would happen if SCP was a videogame.

In all seriousness, Frictional Games was probably looking around the SCP archives for inspiration. The next project from the company which brought us Amnesia and Penumbra has a redacted engineering document and a bit of Kanji in its user interface elements.

For the record, I tried looking up the symbols and I was not successful. I cannot even tell whether this is Japanese or Chinese Kanji.

Regardless, the website suggests many more reveals are on the way. The first teaser, Vivarium, shows a woman using a creepy computer while talking to someone through an earpiece. Thankfully, it is not a jump scare video (or really scary at all) but it does have a bit of NSFW language.

Still no information on when the game (which may or may not be named, "SOMA") will be released. Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, developed by The Chinese Room, was just released less than a month ago.

That trailer has me interested at the least.

I looked at the kanji written on the redacted enginneering document and they appear to be,

"エ" (Seen commonly used for "contruction")
"貝" (Shell)
"右" (Right, the opposite of left)
"列" (A row or line, used when kids or people form a line)
"出" (Used when taling about something leaving, appearing, or coming out of an inside space.)

I don't know if there is a correlation, but that is what I gleen from it, and from how I see and use them in Sendai, Japan everyday. The characters could also just be jibberish.

Well the thing is that first Kanji seems to be "貢" which means "finance" or "a tribute" (noun), not "construction" and "shell" separately. Still no clue what that would represent.

Apparently it means the same in Chinese, however.

There should be a Favourites thread feature so I can go back and read again my favourite articles.

This is one of them :)
The SCP Foundation has some really interesting sci-fi research documentation to read.

As for the game derived from SCP Foundation experiments, well... I'm a wimp. I'm not into Survival Horror games and I was unable to play more than 10 minutes of Amnesia (demo).

If this new project is a long the lines of Half-Life (Research, Puzzle, Experiments, Story, etc.), then I'll buy it!

The SOMA project, so far I like it!
Current data progress is at 21%.

You can bookmark posts and post tags... example.

Although we do suck a bit with tag consistency. Me especially. I'm not going to lie.

But yeah, it would be cool if it were within the site.

I understand that I can bookmark/favorite the post in my browser, however I often use different browsers and computers.

And since I have a Pcper account, I would believe that this feature would benefit the members.

There is already a feature for top commented post, etc. Adding a favourite feature would be similar to that feature, however it would be member/account focused.

Not to mention, when Ryan does a Podcast, he could set his favourite post this way as well and save some time locating the post that he refers to. :)

If you want to go even further, there could be a post rating system (e.g. Like/Dislike). This could order the favourite list and give better feedback from preferred content of your viewers/readers.

Cheers! :)
