CES 2010: CES Unveiled Press Event - General Tech 10

Media, analysts, and bloggers got a preview of some of the product debuts and CES Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase honorees at this year’s CES Unveiled event. Vendors from more than 50 companies were on hand showcasing their latest gear and gadgets that will hit the streets in 2010.

One of the first booths we visited was from our friends at MSI who had many new notebooks and netbooks available for press to play with, but they also had this MSI Wind Top AE2220 21.5″ multi-touch, all-in-one desktop PC that was absolutely gorgeous . This PC retails for $749.99 and features full 1080P HD resolution, 5.1 surround sound, NVidia ION graphics, and Windows 7 Home Premium.

One of the most awesome products we got to preview was the enTourage eDGe, which the vendor is boasting as the world’s first “dualbook”.  The eDGe combines the functions of an e-reader, netbook, notepad, and audio/video recorder and music player into one device. It will retail at around $490 and start shipping to consumers in February.

Another vendor who’s booth was hopping at CES Unveiled was Lenovo. They have many new products for press to slobber over, but one in particular caught my eye. This ThinkPad X100e retails at $449 and sports a AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 1.6GHz processor, 11.6″ HD display, custom keyboard (one of Lenovo’s trademark options), and Windows 7 Home Premium. The idea behind this new notebook is to create something elegant and flashy, but give users the flexibility they are looking for in an ultra slim and portability PC solution.

Another interesting product we got to try out was from Kemplar and Strauss called the W Double-U Watch Phone. This handy gadget is the world’s first GSM unlocked cell phone watch that can also be used to take photos, listen to MP3s, and write text messages just like a regular cell phone. It retails for $199 and also features a 1.5 inch touch screen TFT LCD and supports micro SD cards up to 2GB.

Our friends at DisplayLink brought high definition video support to their line of USB display solutions through a mini display adapter that will be manufactured and marketed by HP. This little device will provide users with one more display that can output up to 2048×1152 resolution. Consumers can use this product with their existing dual displays to add a third display to their computer setup.

One final item we wanted to feature from CES Unveiled was the AR.Drone by Parrot. There were crowds of press ogling over this devices that flew off four propellers that worked like a “quadricopter” and used onboard cameras to sense objects around it. Pretty cool stuff.

There were tons of other products being shown at CES Unveiled, but the room was packed beyond capacity so we decided to get what footage we could and go back to these vendors throughout the week to get the scoop on their latest products. More to follow on these product developments as our CES 2010 continues from Las Vegas.
