If you are shopping for a <$250 video card you may have found your plans frustrated.  Both the 8800GT and the HD3870 disappeared within hours of their release and there has been no sign of them at all.  The Tech Report can comment on why the AMD cards are so rare, although we still don’t know what nVIDIA’s problem is … maybe retailers are snubbing them by continuing to sell GTS models?  Follow the link to see what has been holding AMD back.
