ARM has a new chip on the block, the CCN-508, It is a capable of combining up to eight 64-bit ARMv8 CPU clusters of four cores apiece, either all ARM Cortex-53s or ARM Cortex-57s, using ARM's AMBA 5 CHI interconnect technology. Those processors can then be attached to a wide variety of what ARM refers to as partners, including up to 24 other AMBA interconnects for other CPUs, DDR3 or DDR4 memory controllers, PCIe, SATA, and 10-40 gigabit Ethernet. So much for ARM just being a mobile processor; check out more at The Register.
"ARM has released more details about the innards of its cache-coherent on-chip networking scheme for use cases ranging from storage to servers to networking – specifically, its CCN-5xx microarchitecture family and its newest member, the muscular CoreLink CCN-508."

32 ARMv8 cores, if they are
32 ARMv8 cores, if they are custom wide order cores like the Apple A7, or Nvidia’s Denver(waiting for the benchmarks on these), could have some render farm use! AMD will not have any Custom ARMv8 for a few years(Hopefully wide order superscalar custom SKUs), but for rendering workloads these may provide a lower cost solution, than the high priced Xeon products from Intel. Thats a ARM interconnect at 1.6TB/sec bandwidth beastie for sure, and that is licensable IP from ARM Holdings, are Low cost home computing clusters on the horizon, but a board with just 2 or 4 sockets at that interconnect speed would be nice to own, with some custom ARMv8 ISA cores, and plenty of PCIe 3.0 lanes. AMD is going to have some HSA custom ARMv8 versions with graphics/GPGPU functionality so a render cluster/workstation for an affordable price point, may give the Mac pro some competition.
