The Feb. 8 PC Perspective show on TWiT will feature special guest host David Hewlett.  David is most famously known as Dr. Rodney McKay from the Stargate television series (one of the few actors to actually show up in all three series).  He also directed, produced, and starred in the indy hit, "A Dog's Breakfast".

David is a self-proclaimed nerd and geek with a keen interest in technology.  In his misspent youth he would build his own computers and attempt some assembly coding (with limited success).  After achieving much greater success in the acting world he switched over to Macs once they adopted their current Unix/BSD based operating system.  A proud owner of a Macbook Air, iPhone, and iPad,

Current interests include the new "white space" wireless technologies, iPad in schools, and new distribution models for TV and film through primarily online media.  David has also started a new web series with his sister, Kate Hewlett, called "Assassidate".  Currently one episode is online and the next two are in production.

David will be sharing his opinions and insights on the changing focus of technology in an increasingly mobile and connected world.  He will be piping in on several of our articles, especially that of AMD's changing focus for their upcoming products.  He might even chime in on the plight of Matthew in Season 2 of Downton Abbey.  That's just the way he rolls.

So join us all at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT at http://live.twit.tv (or just use the widget below!) on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 for this very special show!  DH-Day -1!

You can follow David on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/dhewlett.

David Hewlett is going to be cool, i was wondering what is he currently running as a system?

Love Rodney, but definitely do not want to hear anymore hyperbole about Apple shit. Yes, I simply will not listen, as I have a choice.

February 7, 2012 | 01:59 PM - Posted by Josh Walrath

LOL, since when have we ever gone hyperbolic about Apple products? The list of discussions that is posted above does not mention any discussion about Apple. It just so happens that David owns those products, but I don't think they are among the talking points we are putting together.

Thanks Josh. I appreciate that.

BTW, Ryan still has not answered my question as to why he goes by Kevin when he does the This Old House episodes on PBS.

February 8, 2012 | 02:57 PM - Posted by Ryan Shrout

To avoid the IRS.

Thanks Ryan. I thought you had a good reason. Maybe you can mention it on the next podcast? That would be way cool. Didn't like in the last episode when that lighting person was showing how the lights all over the house could be controlled by a fucking program on a crapple ipad. You should have told him that is not enthusiast gear.

Thanks Josh. One of the reasons why the PC Per Podcast is my favourite, is that they don't constantly drone on about crApple.

How about dumping Patrick Norton for Allen or this guy. Replace him with anyone in fact, the manner in which Norton speaks (and goes off on pointless rants or tries to be funny) is just absolutley irritating. I can no longer watch the TWICH podcast because of it. He is just irritating to the point that it makes it cringe worthy.

Most of the time, the jokes Patrick tries to make are SO pointless that you just have to wonder what the topic was even about. PLEASE find someone else, the guy Allen from PC-Per is a welcome addition to TWICH when he's on. He's a true tech-head, he speaks clearly and concise, doesn't go off on mindless tangents about nonsense....come on Ryan. You can do this.

Appreciate the complement, but you're talking about This Week in Computer Hardware, which is recorded on Thursdays. Hewlett will be joining us for the recording of the PC Perspective weekly podcast - recorded Wednesdays. The cool part is that TWiCH is meant to be higher level content, while the Podcast is where we get in the weeds. It only seems fitting to save the real geeks for the podcast, and David Hewlett fits the bill :).

Hey Allyn, I would like to add that I also love hearing your comments! You need to jump into the conversation more often with your pc perspective! :p

I'd recommend adding Kyle from Hardocp and making it a joint podcast.

And remove the family rating unless all of Kyle's words are bleeped out.

Yes, a [H]'er pcper would be sweet.

February 8, 2012 | 02:57 PM - Posted by Ryan Shrout

I bet he would stop by, sure.

Apple Nerd is an oxymoron but hey, I won't hold it against him.....much. :)

I have never seen a single episode of stargate but loved a dog's breakfast. It was a funny movie. and I hope they make the sequel soon. Its pretty much all the main characters from stargate getting together after the show and making a low budget comedy. Its a little slow paced but its funny and the dog is cute.

This is awesome PC Perspective! Think you can get David to "panic" about something in the technology area? that seemed to be one of his best expressions on his shows :)

February 8, 2012 | 07:05 PM - Posted by Josh Walrath

Hopefully he just realizes that he doesn't have to tap his headphones/ear everytime he wants to talk.

February 8, 2012 | 04:08 PM - Posted by Anonymous (not verified)

I just recently got into Stargate Atlantis and watched every episode in about a week on Netflix. Great show and he was awesome on it, seems like a cool guy and a good actor. Now to get Jewel Staite on here sometime!

February 8, 2012 | 06:05 PM - Posted by Josh Walrath

If we had a podcast about food or wine, she would probably jump in! Unfortunately, that is just not the case. We get to talk about dry, old technology.

Aw gawd, this Podcast was fricken' awesome you guys should definitely do this kind of thing again.

And Josh was hilarious as always. Keep em coming!

Hey, if you know of any techy, nerdy stars that want to join us, we'd love to have them!!

February 9, 2012 | 01:00 AM - Posted by Anonymous (not verified)

This one is definitely one you don't want to miss! Great podcast!

February 9, 2012 | 10:19 AM - Posted by Josh Walrath

David is a kind and generous man to have put up with our garbage for the hour and a half we were recording/online! Hopefully Allyn didn't scare him away for good :O

I like Patrick Norton, and I think there's just way too much hate going on here.

How about Wil Wheaton?
