Chipsets – ALi and SiS

Well after looking at all the motherboard manufacturers and what they had to offer, what did we see at the chipset vendors booth’s themselves?

ALi

ALi was showing off a few different chipsets and motherboards.

Their first board here uses the M1687 chipset and a south bridge while …

… this board uses a single chip solution called the M1689.

Interestingly, ALi actually had a 939-pin motherboard at their booth as well.

SiS

SiS had a lot of motherboards from other manufacturers that showed design wins from some big players. The real question is, will we see these come to market for mass, end-user consumption, or will SiS remain in the OEM/ODM fold?
