So allegedly Amazon UK sold some AMD A8-7600 APUs, but they actually shipped Athlon 64 X2 5200+ CPUs. Despite what you would think, it was actually “dispatched and sold” by Amazon UK itself, rather than a dishonest seller who has some explaining to do. For those affected, Amazon is apparently handling customer service well, as expected, and promptly replacing the parts. It does not seem to affect other regions, and the problem started just a short time ago.
Unless you're Sebastian, these processors will not even fit in the motherboard socket. PC World has an interesting side-by-side comparison of the two pin configurations. They do not look alike at all. You should not have a hard time identifying the problem if you are careful enough to look before you insert, which is obviously something that you shouldn't have to do. Also, AMD refers customers to their authenticity support page for a few extra ways to be sure that the box that you got came from AMD.
What would be the most interesting part of this story is finding out what happened. Unfortunately, we probably will never know, unless it turns into a famous legal battle of some sort.
So a few fraudulently marked
So a few fraudulently marked chips enter the supply chain and you make a big deal of it, yet another company that you ‘appear’ to have a close working relationship with misrepresents its 2nd tier product to the industry and you defend their actions at every stage despite the said actions being contrary to EU law regardless of whether that misrepresentation was intentional or not, hence why Big retailers that operate in the EU are with manufacture (but not chip producer) support are accepting returns to dissatisfied customers. Despite this the vast majority of the industry press are letting it slide
Perhaps you should consider
Perhaps you should consider re branding your site ‘Nvidia’s Perspective”
Better yet: “noVideot’s
Better yet: “noVideot’s perspective”, or “nGreedia’s perspective”.
How the duck does this make
How the duck does this make them videos fanboys? Amd fucked up it happens nvidia fucked up their 970 too whoopie!! Stop being fanboys of companies and just buy what ever is best for fuck sake. Go get an x99 platform and crossfire some r9 290x 8gb cards or go buy a fx8330 and sli some 960s

Too “bad” I’m not a fanboy,
Too “bad” I’m not a fanboy, tho.
No-one said it was AMD who
No-one said it was AMD who screwed up. In fact, it makes no sense for AMD to have shipped processors from 2007. It could have been an intercepted shipment or a dishonest warehouse worker who stole a load of new CPUs and replaced them with old ones to hide what they did.
>SLI some
>SLI some 960s

Not “incorrect”. Fake. It’s a scam, not a “mistake”.
Whoever sold the CPUs to
Whoever sold the CPUs to Amazon scammed Amazon, and in turn scammed Amazon’s customers. It’s not AMD’s fault and it’s not Amazon’s fault, but good on Amazon for resolving it.
I admit it, it was us … and
I admit it, it was us … and we would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you damn kids.

Where did I say that AMD is
Where did I say that AMD is at fault? Learn to read and comprehend the information provided, kiddo.
This is nothing, not-even
This is nothing, not-even news, this is a shipping mistake from somewhere along the line, like when you get the wrong bag at the drive-through window. Funny tho.
HOWEVER, does anyone here remember this one http://www.tomshardware.com/news/NewEgg-Fake-Corei7-D-H-Distributing,9814.html ?
Now THAT was a news-worthy shipping mistake. Plastic mok-cpu’s in bad Anglish boxes with a blank page manual, now that’s just epic.
It seems to be more than a
It seems to be more than a shipping mistake if the info in the sweclockers article is right. They were marked as 7600 chips on the heatspreder and that just doesnt happen without knowingly atempting to defraud the customer, if it was just the box that was marked wrong you could argue it was just a mistake. The question is just who acctualy did the relabeling of the heatspreaders and is the originator of the fraud.
Well look at the news source,
Well look at the news source, they are not known for their love of AMD, but the Tech Report does have a dedicated TEAM of posters, that tend to denigrate AMD with every chance they get, you can even tell when they are terfing and teaming up to pass the FUD against anything not WINTEL centric. Welcome to the Suck UP generation, they love their monopolies. One must keep a dump truck of rock salt handy, when reading any news from any Technology/enthusiast website, the gets ad revenues, and review samples, from the industries whose products they review! It is all about the ads, some to a lesser degree than others, but that ad money talks, as well as those review samples, that may arrive a little to late, compared to sites that tow the line.
I didnt even use Tech Report
I didnt even use Tech Report as a source for my comment(but I do love their site). I would also say that only people with less than half a brain would think it was AMD behind the shennanigans(and I say that as a person with a clear personal preferance for Nvidia).
AMD would stand to lose way to much to be involved in this kind of petty and moronic fraud. It would be the corporate version of shooting yourself in the crotch with a shotgun of your own free will. Surviable, but you will never fully recover.
My best guess would be that its just some nickle and dime scam artist in the middle of the supply chain.
I already told you it was us,
I already told you it was us, we did it!
Why the comment was posted
Why the comment was posted under your post, I do not Know, it should be outside under the article replies, the Tech Report itself may or may not be Anti-AMD but there is a dedicated group, that posts, not only do they post in an organized fashion, they call each other out while posting the Anti-AMD FUD, in such a way as to complete each others’ lines of thought. Intel, in the past, has had legal/antitrust problems with such sponsored terfing, but the entire online journalistic integrity system is non existent, and ad money talks, Nvidia is wasting its IP, and intellectual capital, and appears to be acting more like a retailer than a technology company, Nvidia’s board of directors, and leadership is not very good at reading the industry trends, outside of the GPU business, and does not appear to have a focus for its SOC line, other than gaming, Nvidia’s GPU business is charging a premium, and undercutting QA, and customer trust. AMD will be introducing its latest in a short while, and AMD is far from out of the running in the GPU business.
look before you insert, says
