We should be finally hearing the pricetag which will be associated with Windows 10 this Wednesday as Microsoft has been sending out invites for an unveiling this week. Many have already tried the unfinished version via the Windows Insider Programme and it has received a much warmer welcome that the previous version. The Inquirer posits this could be in part because of a realization that consumers now have a choice in operating systems and are now far less likely to feel that they have to go with Microsoft or Apple. From Chromebooks to flavours of Linux wrapped in a GUI and installer that Windows users feel comfortable with there is a change in the market and the biggest competitor to a new Windows is not necessarily an older version of the OS. This has driven Microsoft to listen to customer feedback and not hand out changes to the OS that they feel customers should want but instead bring back familiar features which were removed and perhaps completely rethink their pricing. You can check out The Inquirer's musical take on what to expect right here.
"WEDNESDAY is arguably the most important day in Microsoft's recent history. We're primed and ready for what is expected to be the consumer launch of Windows 10, easily the most pivotal release in its 30 years as the world's predominant operating system."

Holy run-on sentences batman.
Holy run-on sentences batman. And spelling errors. Maybe one day Jeremy will proof read his own works…One day.
Not to mention a double
Not to mention a double spacer after periods. Now that is old school.
…or still existing writing

I would more or less qualify
I would more or less qualify as old and that is how I've always typed. Not sure what you think I spelled wrong though; you dislike pricetag as one word perhaps?
How about some info on when
How about some info on when an update with these features will drop for the technical preview folks?
Wasn’t the Windows 8 launch
Wasn’t the Windows 8 launch prefaced similarly. Like didn’t they call it the biggest and most game changing release since Windows was thing.

This one time it’s a big deal, simply because if the world doesnt love this one, then it’s only gona get worse from here for old M$. Simply stated windows just isn’t the only player in town anymore and all the different flavors and shapes of Unix/Linux are finally taking a serious place in the average consumer ecosystem.
If windows wants to stay dominant for the near future atleast, then this one has got to be a hit. If not, I’m not saying windows will be gone overnight, but bit by bit more and more people will be buying cromebooks and android 2 in 1s and becoming more and more comfortable outside of the windows ecosystem until we reach the point where windows is remembered fondly by old-timers like dos is today.

They can keep windows 10,
They can keep windows 10, unless they get all that TIFKAM, MODERN, Snooping, and Binging around with any private searches for files on my PC/Laptop. Same goes for the cloud, I’M not logging into my device, via any cloud, that is keeping track of my everything, and making a big ball of metrics that can be directly traced to an online cloud login. I do not wish to be quantified, and my juicy metrics sold off like a fattened pig, to every marketing database analytical service, for M$’s monetary benefit. I buy my PC/Laptop hardware from third party OEMs, and not M$, you can take your new business model and put it in a place where the photons never reach, M$, 7 is good until 2020, and then some, for me!!!
holy balls, THIS guy again.
holy balls, THIS guy again. The one that can’t read, or understand how to disable settings. Or even how to create a local user account.
stay with 7! hell go back to win 2000 for christ sakes.
Funny thing is you probably have every google service they offer…..
No Google either, M$ can go
No Google either, M$ can go to hell, along with all the monopoly fanbois of the WINTEL dualolopy, screw these suppliers of CPUs/SOCs/OSs, they are supposed to be suppliers of parts to the OEM device makers, and not lead the OEMs, and their customers, around by nose rings. You are a yes man for the hands that feed you, and monopolies M$/Comcast et all, are getting away with more, than even the old Oil trusts of their day, under the guise of Technology, these Technology TRUSTS needed to be broken up decades ago, but in the age of quick information, it’s the quick disinformation like yours trying to yellow dog matters.
TIFKAM Metro Modern the third is not welcome on any of my PC/Laptop hardware, same goes for all this default cloud connectivity. No lowly supplier of CPU/SOC/OS parts should ever be allowed to have as much control over the OEM devices industry, ever wonder why the ARM based manufactures are innovating at such a rapid pace, it’s the competition that your handlers fear the most, the Intel’s trying to push x86, and Intel’s single ISA, one trick pony, onto the entire consumer marketplace, or the M$’s trying to close the gates and corroral users into their stinky cloud, for a thorough milking, and quick trip to the slaughter house.
M$, needs to be taken down more than a few pegs, doubly so for Intel, there will be alternatives, even to android, and STEAM OS is on the way. AMD is in a good position, as AMD will have both x86 and ARM, and AMD should think seriously about getting a power8 license from OpenPower, and maybe becoming the supplier for Apple’s Mac Pro, line of workstations, AMD already supplies the Pro GPUs for the Mac Pro, and the power8, eats Xeon for lunch. Power8(a licensed power8 made by AMD) with 12 cores and 8 processor Threads per core, would make the Mac Pro, one hell of a ray tracing powerhouse, to add to the graphics ability of the AMD FirePro GPUs. Just you wait and see the third party licensed Power8, when they begin arriving from the third party power8 licensees, and the number of licensees is growing. The workstation marketplace, is going to be just as interesting, as the server marketplace now that 2015 is here, and those NON made for IBM’s internal/business use, licensed power8’s start arriving.
Even in the IOT market there will be MIPS, and Imagination Technologies(IT) MIPS based CPUs, paired with its PowerVR GPU, the MIPS cores that IT offers have 64 bits, and an option for SMT, for the CPU cores. With IBM not the ONLY supplier of power8’s, expect a market to build up around the Power8 ISA, the same way the market has built up around the ARM/MIPS ISAs, it’s going to make the hand that feeds you, double down on the misinformation and contra revenue, but the market forces will, belated that it is, give the WINTEL folks their comeuppance!!!

I’ve been having fun with the Windows 10 beta. I loaded it onto an old laptop with a 64GB JMicron SSD an it works well without any of the hiccups common to that SSD that I’ve had before. I’m really surprised.
Also, double spaces FTW.
I learned to type with double
I learned to type with double spaces after a period but that was long ago on an electric typewriter. I’ve since converted to a single spacer.
