i loved how you tried to
i loved how you tried to stick up for sebastian’s article,
but with all honesty it was not a great job, it was a job done, thats about it, yes it took him probably alot of work, we thank him for it, but still alot of inconsitency that didn’t really need praising.
exemple, he made a budget rig, with AMD graphics at 79 & 109$
then Nvidia 109 & 153$, if your article is about budget then the 750Ti shouldn’t be there, because for the same price you can crossfire the R7 250.
he could have benched GTX 740 or 730 instead of picking the 750Ti, or just pick the same range price from AMD like R7 265 for 149$ or the R9 270 for 159$, that would have been a better comparaison.
then you go and say that he chosed the hardware for specific reasons and features, like what he did in his article explaining about dual graphics for APU, and Mantle for GCN.
then when he benchs he throws away all what he said, no dual graphic, no Mantle testing, so if in his opinion that hardware should be picked for those reasons, why not test the benefit of these features.
in the end you see a pretty unfair graphs, that give ppl who doesnt know better a wrong impression of the hardware capability, and makes the whole article benchs irrelevant.
so thx for the article anyway, personaly i wouldn’t suggest it to anyone i know who is looking for a budget build, which i guess was the point of the article.
and nice podcast btw, hope you get more guests on your podcast, they add colors (even more than your background), and refreshing, when week’s news is light.
keep up the good work guys.
First of all thanks for
First of all thanks for reading, because I wouldn’t get to do this if we didn’t have people visiting the site.
Sorry you didn’t like the article, but there was nothing I could have changed based on your complaints in this case.
Testing the GTX 730/740 couldn’t have been done. Why? They weren’t released yet when I bought this stuff in April. In fact, I’d finished benchmarking in May before those lower-priced options from NVIDIA came out.
Back then (way back two months ago) the GTX 750 and 750 Ti were the only 700-series cards under $150.
I wanted to test Mantle results too, but it would have been for only one game, and only some of the hardware. Like I said in the article the point was an even comparison of the hardware and that means DX11 right now, but I’d like to see that change and every game support it.
And as far as crossfire with the R7 250, none of the systems had an IGP to do hybrid crossfire (the only APU was the 5350, and AM1 doesn’t support it). I mentioned in the article that I had started out with APUs as well, but dropped them due to cost. The 7850K can be crossfired with an R7 250, for example, and I had both products. But the cost of just those two parts was $250. It didn’t make sense here.
Right on sebastian, it was a
Right on sebastian, it was a great article, lots of info, fuck the haters.
i do my work, it doesnt often
i do my work, it doesnt often turn out as great as would have hoped, and i still apreciate if someone gave me a constructive criticism, i dont go calling him fuking hater, just because he isn’t a hypocrit with me.
when i see something ok and something bad i mak the distinction, i dont go ahh they both suck just to make an attempt of being the cool guy who doesnt give a shit, this is not how the world works.
what’s the point of having a rig for 400$ and call it budget rig perf/dollar, when i can add 20$ and have 420$ rig twice as fast,
it doesnt make sense to take the cheapest availabe of 2 vendors to compare perf/$, and pick items twice as low from Vendor A than vendor B, while vendor A still have the same price items as vendor B.
low budget rigs is dominated by AMD perf/$, yet the article shows the opposite, there is something wrong with it.
and collie doesnt cost you much to be civil, and learn to accept other ppl’s opinions, so far you are the only hater on the comment page.
“low budget rigs is dominated
“low budget rigs is dominated by AMD perf/$”
I’m sure that’s true in some parts of the market, but for the low-cost gaming rigs that Sebastian was testing, a Haswell Pentium with the fastest GPU your budget can bear is simply a killer combo.
I gota stop posting hammered!
I gota stop posting hammered! No offence intended alamo, just drunk talk
I think the graph with the
I think the graph with the price as the blue shaded area and the performance aggregate as the orange bars is the decision point.
Josh created a new term,
Josh created a new term, “Budget Enthusiast” That is what I am, that describes it perfectly, well done, JoshTekk.com ROCKS!
Well thanks, but I don’t
Well thanks, but I don't think that I created it. I have been using it for years in describing a lot of budget products that are still aimed at the enthusiast (especially the budget video card roundups). It is fun getting the most out of your money!
2014 may just end up being a
2014 may just end up being a great year afterall. Big Maxwell, cheap 4K60, cheap TB SSDs, Broadwell, more G-Sync/FreeSync. Now I just need a second job.

The left hand window should have a lower profile and smaller text… otherwise, I like it.
