Bethesda recently published the system requirements for Wolfenstein: The New Order on its blog. The game, which is currently up for pre-order from Steam, is a next generation first person shooter for the PC and consoles (PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360). The system requirements below represent the hardware that PC gamers will need to run the game at a steady 60 FPS at 1080p.
Gamers will need a PC with at least an Intel Core i7 or equivalent AMD processor, 4GB of system memory, and 50GB of free hard drive space running a 64-bit operating system. On the graphics front, users will need to be running a NVIDIA GeForce 460 or AMD Radeon HD 6850 graphics card or better. The game will further require a broadband internet connection and Steam activation. These hardware suggestions are what Bethesda believes is needed in order to run the game "as it was intended to be experienced" on the PC.
Console gamers have similar hard drive space requirements, but obviously will run the game at reduced graphical fidelity as they are limited to their respective fixed hardware.
More information on the system requirements for the various platforms can be found on the Bethesda blog.
If your PC is up to the task of powering BJ Blazkowicz, it's time to get psyched! And In the meantime, why not enjoy some classic Wolfenstein 3D?
Will you be picking up Wolfenstein: The New Order when it comes out.
i7 just seems vague, for
i7 just seems vague, for example an i5 haswell should easily out perform an i7 920, or am I just crazy? We’ll see when the game releases and we get some real world benchmarks I guess.
Yes, it is rather vague but
Yes, it is rather vague but it does suggest that the game engine should be heavily multi-threaded such that a chip with HyperThreading would be beneficial and useful in cranking up the graphical quality settings at 60 FPS+
Maybe the game runs best with
Maybe the game runs best with 8-Threads to play with, so a scenario where the i5 4670k is completely outclassed by the likes of the i7-920, FX-8350 and maybe even the FX-6350 and old Phenom II 1090t may be possible. Possibly due to console development where it is optimal to use all the resources available, which in the case of the PS4 and XBOne is at least 6-Threads. Bear in mind the Xbox 360(Triple-Core each core dual-threaded) and PS3(Cell processor can be run as a Six-Core CPU per the guy who ported Metro Last Light http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-inside-metro-last-light ) each have access to 6-Threads.
So these are settings for
So these are settings for 1080p on ultra? is it both gpu and cpu dependant? will it be playable at all on slower systems or is this the first “Sorry apu guys, Can’t even play on low” flagship game? More questions than answers. And which i7? Nehalem? Ivybridge? I suppose we will only know after benchmarks.
Indeed. Their wording
Indeed. Their wording suggests that the specifications are for 60 FPS at 1080p with all graphics settings on high/ultra/whatever it will be called.
noticed they are looking for
noticed they are looking for more game testers in MD and TX
but you have to be willing to take home some awesome giveaways 😀
I kinda want to see this game
I kinda want to see this game require a multithread CPU, means they might start to slowly utilize our computers now instead of the old “well xbox can only do X so…..”
I hope this is optimized so
I hope this is optimized so sick of unoptimized games.
It is nice to see game devs
It is nice to see game devs using multithreading more, even though you basically had force them into it, Xbox One/PS4 hardware was probably a factor 😉
I doubt that much. all modern
I doubt that much. all modern PCs have some degree of multi-core cpu and threads. the XBox One and PS4 are just lower end pcs (:
there isn’t that many
there isn’t that many machines anymore that doesn’t have least quad core cpu in it. Yea there is still dual core parts but majority of machines that are used for games have least quad. About only section dual cores are still majority in is laptop’s.

I’ll wait for Doom 4.
I’ll wait for Doom 4. Wolfenstein games, while enjoyable, never really grabbed my attention.
