Sometimes it is much easier to buy a complete gaming system than to build one yourself for a variety of reasons, perhaps one good reason would be a two year warranty so you won't have to worry about spending your quality time with a recalcitrant PC. The Alienware X51 sports some nice components for the price tag such as a Core i7-3770 @ 3.4GHz, 8GB DDR3, a 2TB SATA III Hard Drive, and Blu-ray. Perhaps the only possible letdown is the GeForce GTX 660 1.5GB, but consider the price and the form factor before you dismiss the system. Also worth noting, it ships with Win7 64bit, not Win8.

I won a Alienware X51 with a GTX 660 oem i7 3770 16 GB 1600Mhz ram and a bluray drive/burner, for its size its a beast, slightly bigger than a XBOX360 it fits great in my home theater on my 60″. I know people like to hate on Alienware but the x51 is only 150-200$ more expensive if you built it, not bad in my opinion. Anyways I have a youtube channel that showcases the x51 running every game on max settings at 1080p. If you want a STEAM BOX now this is it. As for the GTX 660 OEM being 1.5 GB is fine, it sports 1152 Cuda cores on a gk104 vs the non ti off the shelf 660 which is on gk107 and only has 960 Cuda cores, and 1080p gaming I get better benchmark results overclocking than the gk107 660.
Oh and the GTX 660 oem are dirt cheap on eBayas x51 owners are upgrading to EVGA GTX 670 and GTX 680’s so these cards get tossed on eBay new for 100-170$ which is dirt cheap, plus these cards have sli bridges so having two of these in sli for 300 $ is a steal IMO. I already have a EVGA GTX 670 on order.

alienware lost it’s cred when theygot bought out. You started seeing way too high of price for what you were getting.
Today, seeing someone with an Alienware is akin to seeing someone with Dre Beats headphones…you point and laugh.
