Introduction and Features

The new Seasonic PRIME 750W Titanium PSU is simply the best power supply we have tested to date. Sea Sonic Electronics Co., Ltd has been designing and building PC power supplies since 1981 and they are one of the most highly respected manufacturers on the planet. Not only do they market power supplies under their own Seasonic name but they are the OEM for many other big name brands.

Seasonic’s new PRIME lineup is being introduced with the Titanium Series, which currently includes three models: 850W, 750W, and 650W (with more to follow). Additional PRIME models with both Platinum and Gold efficiency certifications are expected later this year with models ranging from 850W up to 1200W. Wow – we are already looking forward to getting our hands on a couple of these!

The power supply we have in for review is the PRIME 750W Titanium. This unit comes with all modular cables and is certified to comply with the 80 Plus Titanium efficiency criteria; the highest available. The power supply is designed to deliver extremely tight voltage regulation on the three primary rails (+3.3V, +5V and +12V) and provides superior AC ripple and noise suppression. Add in a super-quiet 135mm cooling fan with a Fluid Dynamic Bearing and a 10-year warranty, and you have the makings for an outstanding power supply.

Seasonic has announced the PRIME Titanium Series line of power supplies, 80 Plus Titanium certified PSUs that the company says offers superior power regulation with "super-low" ripple noise and extended hold-up times to ensure clean power to your system.

"The culmination of the PRIME Series is the result of Sea Sonic’s close collaboration with graphics card manufacturers and suppliers during product development. Undoubtedly, the electrical performance of the series is unsurpassed by any analog power supply on the market today.

Seasonic PRIME Series power supplies are made with the best quality components, employ an innovative circuit design, and go through rigorous testing to ensure each unit’s amazing load regulation, performance and efficiency. Clean power and prolonged hold-up time (that doubles the current industry standard) are the main characteristics for the ultimate stable performance of the PRIME series power supplies."

Main features of the PRIME Series power supplies from Seasonic:

  • 80 PLUS Titanium or Platinum Certified
  • Premium Hybrid Fan Control (fanless up to 45 % system load)
  • Micro Tolerance Load Regulation (0.5 %)

CES 2016: Seasonic prepares flagship Prime series of PSUs

Subject: Cases and Cooling, Shows and Expos | January 8, 2016 - 02:07 PM |
Tagged: CES, CES 2016, seasonic, prime, power supply

In a meeting with Seasonic at CES this week, the company revealed plans for a completely new series of power supplies coming this spring. The new Seasonic Prime series will come in both Platinum and Titanium editions, with wattage ranges of 650 watts to 1000 watts on the former and 550 watt to 1200 watts on the latter. These power supplies will now be ahead of the X-Series in the brand hierarchy.

Seasonic is well known in the industry for top quality products and is one of the key manufacturers for other PSU brands that you know and love. They want to build a new flagship brand of their own though, going with an impressively svelte design and include enough features and capabilities to stand out in a crowded market.

Both Platinum and Titanium designs will include a totally new hybrid fan control design that allows for a zero fan speed design up to 45% of system load on the higher wattage units. Zero PCB cabling minimizes the chances for individual failure and is aided by the completely modular design. Though the unit is analog rather than digital, Seasonic promises to maintain a 0.5% nominal tolerance on the load regulation on the 12V line. Also, all of the Seasonic Prime power supplies will come with a full 10-year (!!) warranty.

Looking for a fanless design? Seasonic will have you covered with the Titanium Fanless units at both 400 watt and 550 watt variants.

Expect the newest Seasonic power supplies to hit stores in April!

Seasonic's Snow 750W takes the prize again

Tagged: Snow Silent-750, seasonic, 80 Plus Platinum

If you had any doubts about the quality of the Seasonic Snow 750W PSU after reading our review then perhaps [H]ard|OCP will convince you and maybe even win one.  You will notice the same colour award offered and a rather subtle recommendation at the end of the article.  Seasonic has really become what PC Power & Cooling was back in the day, priced at a premium but absolutely worth it.  If you are looking for a PSU in the 750W range then this model should be at the top of your wishlist.

"Seasonic is without a doubt the "best" computer PSU designer and builder in North America in our opinion. It has continually made award winning enthusiast class PSUs which is simply not easy in today's market. Six of its last eleven units reviewed here have "only" produced HardOCP Silver awards though. Do we have a new Gold [H] today?"

Seasonic Snow Silent; if you prefer your PSU meek and pale

Subject: Cases and Cooling | March 23, 2015 - 02:30 PM |
Tagged: seasonic, snow series, modular psu, 1050W, 80 Plus Platinum

The ability to deliver stable power is the primary attribute we look for in a PSU but the aesthetics should not be ignored, especially for modders and those with glass cases.  The Seasonic Snow Silent Series 1050W PSU is aptly named for its white finish which gives it a unique look in a very crowed market but the exterior does not tell the whole story.  With a total of eight 6+2 PCIe plugs and a 12V rail capable of providing 1044W @ 87 amps this PSU will certainly handle Crossfire or SLI and it will do so fairly quietly.  TechPowerUp liked the 7 year warranty as well as the performance and look of this PSU, especially considering it is priced roughly the same as the bog standard grey model which does not have the improved fan of this model.

"Seasonic released a special version of their Platinum offering with 1050 W capacity; it comes with a while paint job and is equipped with an FDB fan and a relaxed fan profile for less noise output, which will thrill users looking for a quiet high-performance PSU."
