The MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard features a black PCB with carbon fibre overlay accenting it's chipset heat sinks and rear panel cover. MSI also placed RGB LED-enabled components across the board's surface and under the board for an interesting ground effects type look. The board is designed around the Intel Z370 chipset with in-built support for the latest Intel LGA1151 Coffee Lake processor line and Dual Channel DDR4 memory running at a 2667MHz speed. The Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon can be found in retail with an MRSP of $209.99.

I am the leopard king? MSI's new gaming laptop

Subject: Mobile | December 19, 2017 - 02:27 PM |
Tagged: msi, gaming laptop, GP62 7REX Leopard, GTX 1050 Ti, i7-7700hq

The model of MSI's GP62 7REX Leopard Pro gaming laptop which The Tech Report reviewed sells for $1300, middle of the road for a gaming laptop.  The 4GB GTX 1050 Ti will be able to drive the built in 1080p display though it may struggle at higher graphic settings on an external monitor with a higher resolution.  The overall design was favourably received, the SteelSeries keyboard is a nice touch and the laptop keeps itself cool without creating a lot of noise.  The battery life disappointed The Tech Report, but in most cases this laptop will be plugged in so this is not as bad as it would be on an ultraportable.

"With a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti inside, MSI's GP62 7REX notebook puts plenty of gaming power into a relatively affordable and portable package. We put it through our rigorous test suite to see how it stands up to the competition."

The Intel version of the GAMING PRO CARBON AC

Subject: Motherboards | November 21, 2017 - 02:53 PM |
Tagged: msi, Z370, Intel, GAMING PRO CARBON AC

MSI have also released a Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC in addition to the AMD compatible X399 model we have seen reviewed recently.  The look is very similar but as there are not quite as many lanes available on the Z370 there are some differences.  There are only a pair of M.2 ports, however lane sharing is well thought out and if you install an NVMe drive you will not interfere with your SATA ports; The Tech Report offers more detail in their review.  There are also less USB ports, though MSI makes sure to include the important USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, in both Type-A and Type-C.  Drop by for all the details and performance results.

"MSI's Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC offers fresh looks and plenty of RGB LEDs to go with Intel's latest CPUs. We poked and prodded this board under both stock and overclocked testing conditions to see how it handles a piping-hot Core i7-8700K in its socket."

More GTX 1070 Ti overclocking

Subject: Graphics Cards | November 7, 2017 - 03:21 PM |
Tagged: pascal, nvidia, gtx 1070 ti, geforce, msi

NVIDIA chose to limit the release of their GTX 1070 Ti to reference cards, all sporting the same clocks regardless of the model.  That does not mean that the manufacturers skimped on the features which help you overclock successfully.  As a perfect example, the MSI GTX 1070 Ti GAMING TITANIUM was built with Hi-C CAPs, Super Ferrite Chokes, and Japanese Solid Caps and 10-phase PWM.  This resulted in an impressive overclock of 2050MHz on the GPU and a memory frequency of 9GHz once [H]ard|OCP boosted the power delivered to the card.  That boost is enough to meet or even exceed the performance of a stock GTX 1080 or Vega 64 in most of the games they tested.

"NVIDIA is launching the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti today, and we’ve got a custom retail MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti GAMING TITANIUM video card to test and overclock, yes overclock, to the max. We’ll make comparisons against GTX 1080/1070, AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 and 56 for a complete review."

MSI's Aegis 3, a perfect gateway system for console gamers

Subject: Systems | October 30, 2017 - 02:36 PM |
Tagged: msi, aegis 3

The MSI Aegis 3 has a small footprint, including the base it stands 17.05x14.81x6.69" (43.3x37.6x17cm) though it is wider when you extend the ears to hang your headphones off of.  The inside is very well laid out for such a tiny pre-built system, The Tech Report could easily access all the components in the system for potential upgrades or even simple cleaning.  This ~$1000 machine is perfect for someones first PC as it ships with a DS4200 keyboard and DS-B1 gaming mouse, leaving only the monitor to purchase separately and the inclusion of a 16GB Intel Optane M.2 Cache Module will impress them with the speed.  The Tech Report did have some suggestions for improvements on the VR hookups but overall found this to be a great introduction to the PC gaming world for a first timer.

side_r.jpg

"MSI's Aegis 3 starts with a compelling enough spec sheet for the budding gamer: a Core i7-7700 CPU, a GeForce GTX 1060 3GB graphics card, and 16GB of RAM. We spent some time with the Aegis 3 to see whether a 16GB Optane cache and a 2TB hard drive offer an SSD-like user experience in this NAND-starved era."

Dive into MSI's GH70 7.1 gaming headphones

Tagged: audio, msi, gaming headset, Immerse GH70

The MSI MSI Immerse GH70 gaming headset sports a Solid Steel Design, RGB Mystic Light as well as Hi-Res Audio and a variety of other marketing terms, however we are far more concerned with its price and performance.  The price is $130, the 7.1 sound is virtual and Modders Inc loved the effect when gaming, though they toggled it off when talking to NPCs which the included in-line controller makes incredibly easy.  The RGBs can provide up to 16.8 million colour combinations and with Mystic Sync it can be synchronized with any other compatible MSI components you have.

Just don't ask about the beard.

"Micro-Star International, better known as MSI has sent us a treat! We will be taking a look at one of their latest products, the MSI Immerse GH70 Gaming Headset. Websters dictionary describes "immerse" as "to plunge into something that surrounds or covers..." and "completely immersed in his work". Lets see if the MSI Immerse GH70 Gaming Headset stands up to …"

MSI have just announced the GTX 1080 Ti GAMING X TRIO, which will hit the market in November, though with the current price of Bitcoin you may have trouble locating one.

The cards will feature their Tri-Frozr cooler with two 10cm and one 9cm TORX 2.0 fans along with a pair of 8mm SuperPipes which will provide 300W of heat dissipation for those planning on pushing the overclock even further.  It will also have Mystic Light, offering you three zones of controllable RGBs, with the option to synchronize the light show emanating from your various components.
