OK, by now you know the drill:
Hi there. Uncle Bob here again, a Mod here at PC Perspective. We will be running a series of articles within the forum that will be called Mod Interviews. I ask revealing, embarrassing, stupid, probing questions of Mods and hopefully you get to laugh with us at ourselves and in the process get to know some of us better. Beware, not all the Mods are as forthcoming as you may like, I do my best to uncover the truth, but haven’t always hit the mark!
Here we have a fellow West Coaster, I give you number 8 in the series: zetachi

1. I realize many of the mods here are in a witness protection program of some sort, but can you give us your real name?

My real name is Doug. Just to set the record straight for all those butchering my alias its Zeta Chi pronounced zeta-ki not za ta chi took my awhile on Teamspeak to get that one straightened out LOL

2. Why did you join PCPer/AMDMB?

I was searching for some help on building my 1st OC system. Soyo KT600 Dragon Ultra Platinum and a mobile XP2400 everyone was helpful and was not put off by my foolish noob ness.

3. Which forums do you mod?

Gaming and Trading Post

4. Why do you keep coming back?

Knowledge and camaraderie. It’s the best place to find fellow geeks and get all my answers. Plus it’s a great community that extends in many cases beyond the net and we all try and help each other out.

5. What was your first experience with a computer?

In college back in the early 80’s my roommate had a Trash-80. That and my first computer course that used punch cards.

6. Do you prefer to be called a “geek” or a “nerd”?

I prefer the term geek, though the wife refers to us as nerdlings. Guess that’s a cross between a nerd and a halfling ?

7. What exactly do you do here at PC Perspective?

1) Fill pages of SPAM
2) Try and convince everyone that I’m not addicted to BF2142
3) No really since I’m probably one of the newest MODS here I try and learn as much as possible and pass on that knowledge to anyone willing to listen.

8. What do you like most about your ‘job’? I realize it’s actually a rudimentary form of slavery or servitude, but you are still here…can you explain this to our readers?

I’m a glutton for punishment? No really the best thing about this job is that I can admit that I might actually know something about these damn electronic beasts and can possibly help someone else. Oh yeah and crushing Spammers beneath my boot heals

9. OK, we all know this is coming…What do you like least about your job?

Besides the indentured servitude? Nothing really its all gravy.

10. How long have you been active in PC Perspective?

Wow just looked and it’s only 2 ½ years….Feels like forever

11. Where are most active here? What is it you suppose that draws you to that particular area?

Guess that would be the Gaming Forum seems I spent so much time there they drafted me to become a MOD

12. What interests do you have outside of PC Perspective. Don’t be shy, if you don’t have a life outside of here, many readers would like to know!

Hmm interests… that would involve free time right. Lets see a 5 year old son and a daughter that just turned 1? A full time job… Do I have a life anymore outside of PCPer?

13. OK, it’s hardware time! Let’s start with your most, or current favorite piece of hardware. Tell us about it.

Well that would have to be my spanking brand new X1950PRO. 1st new card I’ve bought in about 6 years. It’s just sweet and it FOLDS.

14. Software? Hey, if you are a closet Linux user, now’s the time to come out. (If you are a closet Microsoft user, don’t be afraid, we can keep a secret!)

Hate to admit it but I’m a M$ user. Every once in awhile I get the Linux bug but can’t seem to find the time to explore it more then a little.

15. OK, let’s get real personal. Witness Protection Program be damned…Can you tell us something about yourself you’d like us to know?

I am not addicted to BF2142 or did I say that already.

16. What can you tell us about your job? Hey, if you do something illegal, now’s a good enough time as any to make a clean start!

Well I started out as a Paralegal working for the Bronx DA Office. Spent 10 years there and was looking for a change. Friend of the wife’s offered me a position working with him in computers. With a little Windows 3.1 experience and not much else I did a complete career change and wound up with my present employer. Been jumping up the ladder here for the last 9 years to my present position as a Systems Analyst/LAN Admin but those are just titles they threw at me since I’m a jack of all trades and master of none. But seriously I work at a major NY Hospital in the Clinical Information Systems Group. Right now I’m mostly involved in building Computer Based Training modules and instituting a new Clinical Medical information System.

17. Where do you live? (Be fearless, your secret is safe with us..)

Queens County, New York

18. What can you tell us about your family??

Like I said before wife, 2 kids and a cat named Damian (yes like the one from the Omen)

19. Here’s a delicate one…How old are you and where did you grow up?

Well I’ll be turning 41 this March. Heading to Old Fogyism. Born and raised in Queens County. Moved around a bit, did a 4yr stint in an upstate NY College and a year living in Manhattan.

20. Well, we are getting to the end of it, it’ll all be over soon, I promise. What would like to say to our forum members, go ahead anything. Get it off your chest. We have all day here…..

Don’t be afraid to jump into the water there’s plenty of lily pads open in our pond. The only stupid question is the unasked one so ask away. If someone here can’t help you out the odds are no one can.

Oh yeah and fold em if you got em
