Intel Expands Intel® Centrino Mobile Technology Line

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 23, 2004 - Intel Corporation today introduced the Intel® Pentium® M processors 715 and 725**, expanding its mobile processor offerings and enabling a broader range of Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology-based mobile PCs at lower price points.

The new chips round out the Intel Pentium M processor line, which also includes the recently introduced Pentium M processors 735, 745 and 755. The Pentium M processor is a key component of Intel Centrino mobile technology - Intel's best technology for mobile computing.

I know that Intel has been getting a lot of flack during their new platform launch, the same Alderwood chipset and Socket 775 release we covered, and most it is deserved in this case.  However, one thing that can be said that Intel did correctly, was getting the right processor releases into the channel.

Kyle has just posted an article on HardOCP that shares his experience with taking the Athlon 64 3000+ processor and coupling it with a Abit K8T800 Pro motherboard with a locked AGP/PCI bus.  The results are quite impressive, and apparently easy to do.

Keep in mind that all Athlon64 CPUs have "Cool n' Quiet" technology.
