Eurocom is a company that believes in overkill; their upcoming laptop, the Clevo D900F Phantom i7 can support a Core i7 965.  It also handles triple channel DDR3, up to and including 12GB of DDR3-1333 if you feel so inclined.  If that impressesyou, then how about the pair of GTX 280M in SLI it will also run?  If you want a desktop replacement that sacrifices battery life in the name of sheer power, then save up for this release.  Check out the pictures and the original press release at AnandTech

The laptop has become a prominent feature of many people's lives, and being more than a few feet from it can cause some to feel lost or uncomfortable.  The netbook has yet to catch on to the same degree, a lot of users are not yet willing to sacrifice the performance of their laptop for a device that is about the same size and weight as a hardcover book.  At The Tech Report, one of the reviewers is undergoing that transformation thanks to the Eee PC 1000H.  Inside lies an Atom N280 1.66GHz

The MSI GX630 is a notebook aimed at gamers that costs under $1000.  It has 4GB DDR2-667, a 9600M GT and a 15.4" TFT that can handle 1280x800, the big price break comes from the processor, an Athlon X2 QL-62 @ 2.0GHz.  By using AMD's product, the premium you pay for a C2D and compatible chipset never enters into the price.  The testing done by The Tech Report bears out witness to

The power of bamboo

Perhaps bamboo might not seem a good material to make a laptop out of but the engineers at ASUS would disagree, as you can tell by the ASUS UV6 Bamboo laptop.  Measuring 15.2 x 9.6" with a 12.1 LCD and containing an Intel P8600 and 3GB of RAM as well as a DVD drive and 250GB HDD, the UV6 packs almost as much power as their Lambourghini model.  That slight lessening of processing power results in much longer battery life, a feature that t-break was very happy to see.

When the power you need won't fit inside the box

You can always get more functionality or storage by adding external devices, but an external graphics processor is a fairly unique item.  The Amilo SA3650 Laptop with XGP Graphic Booster is a joint project between Fujitsu Siemens and AMD, a laptop with an external Radeon HD 3870 that still manages to run as a PCIe 8x card.  Using the external box will give you good gaming performance and the ability to push out 1080p to multiple monitors; pretty impressive for a small laptop.  Guru of 3D did have some suggestions, as well as a bit of good news at the end of the article,

If you need a laptop that can handle media, but won't break your bank account, the Acer Extensa 5630G is worth a peek.  The C2D T5800 @ 2GHz is nowhere near top of the line now, but certainly offers enough power to do what you would need and the ATI Radeon HD3470 will help ensure your graphical experience is not distressing.  InsideHW did wish it had Bluetooth functionality, but

We have been hearing about the ION Platform for a while now as an attempt for NVIDIA to break into the world of netbooks and small form factor PCs with its GeForce 9400M chipset and the Intel Atom processor. Now that we finally have the hardware in our hands we compare it to current generation Atom-based netbooks to see how it improves our computing experiences.

Sooo.....this is interesting news from ASUS with an interesting way of spreading it.  ASUS sent out a press release today that the 1000HE is going to be the first netbook to offer the Intel Atom N280 and promises up to 9.5 hours of battery life.

What's more interesting to me?  Rather than providing a link to the ASUS.com page for more information and pre-order locations, instead they are pointing us all to a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6297967631
