The new Thinkpad is no slouch with a 1920x1200 LCD panel and an ATI FireGL V5200, powered by a Core 2 Duo and up to 4 gigs of RAM.  Add to that the reliability of the Thinkpad series and the limited amount of extra software installed, HotHardware may have found the best Lenovo laptop yet.

The MSI Megabook S271 is based around a Turion X2, in the model AnandTech reviews, it is a TL-50 (1.60 GHz with dual 256K L2 cache).  Recently they compared this laptop to a Core 2 Duo based machine; this review is all MSI.  They cover everything from customization and betery life to MSI support.
